I was at my local Fry's this weekend and saw a copy of Everquest 2 with all the expansions and 60 days play time for around $20. I didn't buy it but when I got home I created a trial account. I'm trying to remember why I stopped playing this game. For a fantasy mmorpg it seems to do everything right except the PvP. I have my preorder of STO installed and ready to go but I'm real doubtful of that game. Global Agenda seems fun but I'm not sure its going to scratch my MMO itch.
Can someone talk me out of returning to EQ2?

$20 for 60 days is a good deal. I'm not sure if I still have that on my comp. I liked the game, but the main problem for me is that my EQ friends all scattered to different servers, and then every time I tried to get back into it, another game pulled me and my friends away. So it wound up being lonely soloing or pug'ing. I haven't played since Kunark.

I think its a great game, and miss playing it. My wife an I had our characters, along with some of our previous EQ1 friends, on the Mistmoore server.

What made you stop playing it? For me (in general), I'm having a harder and harder time justifying a subscription game. I have so little free time to play, I don't get enough bang for my buck. Plus there are so many good microtransaction games where I can play when I get a chance.

My son liked to play too...he had chars on each of our accounts, but I don't know..after a couple weeks of us not being able to play together due to RL, we just decided to cancel. I have yet to subscribe to any other game since, and have done a lot more FPS/RPG gaming

If you guys like to play together, like I do with my brother, sister-in-law, and dad, the free games are a good bet. You can log in and have fun, and not feel guilty about not playing often. DDO, Shaiya, Allods are all good bets. DDO didn't click with us, but Shaiya did, and if my family can get in the Allods beta, I'm sure they'll like it. Shaiya feels a lot like old school EQ, and Allods is pretty WOW/WAR like.

Surprisingly enough, Dragonica Online is pretty fun. Its something that my sister really got into, and because of that I sort of "self-motivate" myself to play the game with her. ^_^

I've been in game limbo lately. I thought that one of the three betas I'm in might hold me but I'm sad to announce they are not for me. Maybe its because of the lack of loot drop. Then I installed Guild Wars, Titan Quest and Divinity 2, but it's just not the same as an mmo. I've played Shailya and Allods and liked them both but I don't think they will hold peoples attention long enough to get the social aspect going. I think if I just pick a game and stick with it I would enjoy it if I could get other to stick it out with me. I guess I'll have to wait for the next big release. Maybe FFXIV, but thats a ways out.

We are on the evil side of the Gaia server. The game is oriented to aoe groups, so plan accordingly. My dad just got into the Allods beta, so we'll see which game the family prefers. I have a handfull of 25 and below Shaiya chars if you want to group sometime. You can do quests to laugh at the writing, but mainly you gain levels by hanging out and killing. The dungeons will remind you of Camelot.

Yeah, the only way I got roped into playing is because my family liked it, mainly for the free aspect. Allods Online is much better in every way.
