Everquest 2 The Complete Collection.Ummmm...damn that is a really good deal. I may have to consider this. I have never played EQ though...for serious. Ok stop laughing... For $19.99 and 2 months play, this seems like a steal to me and almost worth it just to try it for the experience.

It is a primo game. I just never hit critical mass enough friends/family playing. And then WoW came out shortly after...

I agree the art is a bit out dated but the game play seems so much deeper in EQ2 than WOW.

I agree the art is a bit out dated but the game play seems so much deeper in EQ2 than WOW. Really? How is the gameplay deeper? I'm not trying to be argumentative, I'd really like to hear some examples though. I played EQ2 at launch and it really just seemed like a typical MMO with nothing really standing out as innovative or groundbreaking. Perhaps things have changed.

I played a month or two when the pvp servers came out, and again for the fae. My friends were all raiding at that point, so it was solo city. I liked the look and the play though. My dad goes back to it periodically.

i was thinking of returning to eq2 myself. I played it for 4 years but i guess i just got burned out on the pve scene. The pvp there was never that fun if your in it for the long haul. Its too bad eq2 didnt have a twist of warhammer mixed in so that you could get some rvr if/when you wanted. I ran eq2 on high quality and its really a beautiful game if you can run it that way. I have it still installed but for twenty buck i might play a few months myself. (naw im fooling myself, me2 comes out next week) ;D

I don't know what you mean by deeper. If by "deeper" you mean more interesting quests, and a greater variety of classes & abilities, then I would agree that EQ2 has that....but otherwise each game (and I liked each a lot) aren't all that different than any other MMORPG out there at least as far as PVE is concerned. That being said, if I was going to subscribe to any current ones nowadays, it would be EQ2. I'M OBSESSED WITH COLLECTING SHINYS!

Oh no.. what have I gotten myself into.. I like both games, and maybe deeper isn't the right word. I will just say that I'm enjoying EQ2 a lot and thats mostly because of the class variety and abilities. The AA system is interesting and I too am obsessed with collecting shinys.. I played and enchanter in EQ1 and a bard in DAOC both of which were support classes that were extremely valuable in groups. I find a lot of MMO's now only have three roles. Tank, heal and DPS. I know this topic has been done to death, but I miss needing a specific class to breeze, sow, cc, levitate, tp, corpse drag or play a tune that will make me stronger. I didn't play WOW to end game and what I played I liked, it just didn't make me feel like I was exploring a land or joining a community. So this week I play EQ2.. Not sure if I will next week.

I understand what you're trying to say. I wasn't trying to be overly confrontational, I was really hoping there was something about EQ2 that I was missing that really made it a deeper game, because at this point I'd be willing to give it a shot. I'm starting to wonder if traditional MMOs work for me anymore.

I'm starting to wonder if traditional MMOs work for me anymore. I'm feeling the same way. I think the problem, at least for me, is there just isn't anything new really. When WoW came out, MMOs were still relatively new. Sure, there were plenty before that, but WoW really put the massive in the MO. I think lots of things factored into it's popularity. More people with internet that wasn't just dial up, more people with computers, not just the game itself. And with WoW, MMOs became money makers. So lots of companies have tried to emulate it's success. And they all seem to be based on the same formula now. Thus why I say nothing really seems very new. WAR had it's opportunities. But I won't beat that dead horse. That is a really good deal for EQ2 though. 20 bucks for 2 months of gameplay with all the expansions.
