Not that I'm suggesting you do this, but it is possible to get the SK class (or any class, for that matter) on the Freeport server. It just requires a bit of a workaround in that you need to pay for a character transfer ($35) from an active live account.
It sounds like some folks are paying the $5 for a 3-day activation on their unsubbed live account, rolling the race/class they want, and then paying the $35 for a character transfer token.
Expensive, but effective.

New info came in today and it appears that classes will be purchasable very shortly. SOE indicates that the classes will not cost more than a regular subscription ($15) so hopefully the prices will be reasonable. Here's the thread on the EQ2X forums, forums.station.sony.com/eq2x/posts/list.m?topic_id=1361Sounds like they've got some more interesting changes coming with character slots and such. I think they're starting to realize people want to throw their money at them...just not the way they may have initially thought

I'm in the Knights of Norrath as Gwah. The guild is like inviting everyone on the server so it's freakin' HUGE. I think they're just trying to get it levelled

Leave it to SOE to take something potentially awesome and ruin it in the worst way possible.

I made a good Berzerker named Winin just to tool around and see the old stomping grounds. I haven't played much though.

I downloaded and messed around in EQ2X for a few hours. I've played EQ2 for about 3 months total, off and on over the past few years. It's cool that there is a FTP option now, the game is pretty deep and there's tons of content... but the pricing plans just don't fit/make no sense to me. So I'm planning on using Lotro as my free time waster until I find an MMO I want to subscribe to.

I'm playing with a random name I can't remember. It is fun and it has changed a lot since launch. Or maybe I just forgot what it was like.

So what is the scoop? It still has "Beta" in the logo. Is it still beta, or is it safe to spend $$ on upgrades?

And which starting zone is good? I played in Kelethin way back when and liked it. Should I stick with that or brave new halas? Can you transit between them easily?

I would do Halas for sure.. You can zip around the whole world easily. They changed the mariner bell system so a map pops up and you can just click and go.
