Many people have in fact reported that they can be main tank with the Riftstalker soul by the time you're level 20. Also, that macro is awesome.
You'll notice that later on with the kind of talent tree the Bard has, he can be a great secondary healer as well. Not sure on being the main healer since they depend highly on their combo points.

I like that there's so much versatility to every class. Everyone can switch over between a few roles pretty easily, and not be backed into a corner. How about the gear requirements for different specs? If I was to go from a tanking warrior to a DPS warrior, would I need another set of gear to do it effectively? And how useful would it be to carry more than one set, would I have enough inventory space?
Until the scene where the hunchback was getting his hump licked, I didn't think I was going to hell for watching this movie.

Well, for the warrior thing;
Yes and no. Gear is actually kinda easy to get because a good way to level is to run instances and do rifts(Which is where Aion broke down, no reason to group except once every couple hours, rift instances have no lockout as far as i've seen.)
I switched from an RDPS warrior to a tanking warrior. Took maybe 4 quests and a couple event turn ins and I actually had some pretty sweet tanking gear.
Bag space is an issue. They have the same bag system as WoW. But you could probably carry a set with you and not be hurting too much. Also, as a Reaver I've been dishing out some decent damage. Couple that with pally and their AoE tanking abilities(Reaver compliments it well), I have two AoE taunts on separate cooldowns, along with two single target ranged taunts in separate cooldowns. I have a minor life drain and I block pretty much every other attack. Tanking is a blast so far, although as with anything else people who don't control their pets can be your downfall -_-

Okay, so I played this most of this weekend, to get a feel for things. It definitely sold me on the game, and it's rare I come out of a beta test with a higher opinion of a game. The moment that sold me on it was when I was casually strolling through silverwood and suddenly a booming sound was heard and a green fog rolled into the zone. Suddenly, we were getting messages about Life rift activity and the zone was FULL of life rifts. I nabbed a raid and we merrily went about ending this major invasion. It was awesome! My words do it no justice. At the moment, I'm considering preordering this and playing it while I wait for GW2, which probably wont hit until winter this year or early next year. Some other things:
1. The Defiants are the better faction BY FAR. They are dramatic where the Guardians are melodramatic, and have better motivations, better lore, magitech and cooler races. 2. The mix and match class system is excellent and has alot of potential. Being able to have alot of different specs is also awesome. 3. This game runs like a dream. With 40-50+ people on screen it didn't so much as stutter on Ultra settings. (My comp is, admittedly, a beast.) It was also beautiful; it's not overfocused on looking realistic, and there is enough stylization to make it look good. Oddly, it doesn't have AA, and the jaggies were driving me crazy untill I got my graphics card to force AA. 4. The music is meh. Generic but suitably atmospheric. 5. The Rift PQs are fun, and fast enough that you don't feel like they're dragging. 6. Between the rifts, the invasions, and PvP (if on a PvP server) you are frequently interrupted from the quest-quest-quest holding pattern. It adds wonderful variety. 7. You can go into battlegrounds from any location, but from what I saw a similar interface wasn't available for dungeons. There also isn't any form of LFG system, automated or otherwise, reducing everyone to spamming chat for groups. 8. Bag space is WAY, WAY too limited. Rifts drown you in all kinds of loot, which is awesome, but you hardly have any bag space ever, which is not.

I agree with Vejuz on all counts, and I would say the only thing about bag space, is that it definitely motivates you to support the crafters (especially Tailors) of the game by buying large bags from the Auctioneer.
As a whole, I am definitely getting this game. I cancelled DCUO for it.

I make no promises.
I hope to enjoy this for a good amount of time.
What will really be the factor for me is if scenarios and any other type of pvp available will be fun.
I did a bunch of scenarios over the weekend, and I really did enjoy myself.
If you want Odie, apply for the remaining beta events, or you can pre-order at Amazon. They will email you a code for betas and you can cancel if you want before it ships. At least that is how Amazon usually works.

Really getting interested in this game now, haven't bought it yet. Seems that quite a few of us are planning on buying it, hmm?
A brilliant strategem! Unfortunately, it requires your enemies to fear death. We do not.

But WAR hype would be okay! We stayed in that game for a good little bit. I'm more afraid of Aion hype. Fucking Aion...

Some of you may already be listening in, but as a mentioned some time ago my friend Arithion from Aion is doing the "Official Fan Cast" for Rift. Considering they constantly have guests straight from Trion, its a damn good show. Give it a listen and see if ya like it. www.riftpodcast.com/
