i got it, only game i am really hyped for is GW2 and that prolly wont be out till end of the year at the earliest. Honestly I bought the game on the strength of the soul system. It is super fun. I got it straight from trion also to toss them some extra cash.

I have already fully paid it off through my local Gamestop for the Collector's Edition. I will no doubt be burning all my time in that game. We just need to make sure to play on the same server. I am inclined to play on a PvP server since it adds that layer of threat while Rifting, but on the other hand if Warfronts are done really well then it might not matter. Then again, as soon as you try to attack an enemy you get flagged anyway.
In any case, the soul system is amazing. The dynamic content is very, very well done. The dungeons I have not tried yet but from what I understand they are quite interesting, and each side has radically different experiences. Most importantly the thing that stands out to me is that the staff is involved with the community and responds more quickly to the ebb and flow of requests than I've seen with any other developer.

I am interested in playing it, though I'm not so keen on the whole pvp server idea. Still, if enough people are going to be on most of the time, it may be reasonable. The odds of picking the wrong class (for PVP) are a lot less than in, say, Aion, and if you can change your soul powers on the fly that will help too.

So wait for a free trial then! Or sign up for beta to try it, instead.

I can't remember if I already wrote this somewhere else in here, but anyways... I wrote up a post about being okay with not getting an invite, and then the next day I got an invite. I limited my play time because I really wanted to experience the game as fresh as possible on a character that wasn't going to be deleted, but I got enough from my short time in the game to know I'm very interested in playing it. The game runs smooth and looks amazing. Combat is pretty standard from what I could tell, but with the way you can mix up classes to tailor your play experience, it shows a gob of potential fun as well as a gob of potential balance issues. I'm really not sure if it will be the next big thing, but from look and feel alone, it really has my attention (not like that takes much though). The only problem I have is that it comes out in the same month as Killzone 3 and Marvel vs Capcom 3 and I'm now on a budget since I went a little crazy last year. BUT, I'll probably end up going with Rift and just waiting for my birthday in March to pick up the other two. Love that new MMO smell.

Is RIFT the next big MMO that will swallow all my gaming time for the next 3+ years? Probably not.
That said, it looks like it will be fun for at least a few months, and who knows, maybe it will hold me over until GW2 or SWTOR.
As I tweeted earlier this week, RIFT delivers a familiar MMO experience with a few new ideas thrown in, wrapped in a beautifully designed package. It's no WoW killer but then, I don't need something to be better than WoW to play it. I love exploring well crafted virtual worlds, and Trion is delivering just that in RIFT, so it's worth a purchase from me. But if your next game has to be "THE" game that will dominate all others, then keep looking.

Slurm if you need a giftwrapped to get you to play with us then im sure me and pazz can go hold up a hooker and take her money, that being said; I have a 20 cleri on guardian and a 17 warrior on defiance, with a mix of alts here and there. If anyone wants help during the beta on saturday feel free to contact me. The way the rifts are set up, you can level blazingly fast, especially with someone tagging the mobs before others have the chance, its awesome! I agree with Grok, in essence this game really is WoW 2.0, although im going to with hold fully giving it that title until I see the pvp(didnt take the chance last beta). Also havent seen the instances yet. I had plans to, but a pazz that shall not be named decided to roll a character on defiance and level that instead , so this time around shouldnt be an issue

I have been in beta for a while and although the game is polished, it is still just another tab target mmo on rails. I don't really see anything ground breaking with the rift system. Seems like a slight tweek to the PQ system of WAR. If Earthrise tanks I might pick up Rift, otherwise PEW PEW.

Yea, will definitely try to be on as much as possible. We should organize on the Multiplaying/CoT vent server for communication....at least to see who is online. I have characters on both Defiant and Guardian, but I prefer the Defiant side. I will play both come launch, but I'm enjoying my Techno-Cleric so far.
