Actually, before the first expansion was launched Blizzard sent out a questionnaire and one of the questions was "What kind of mount would you like to see in WoW?" Without hesitation I answered "Chopper".
I too appreciate the blurring of lines between fantasy and steam punk that goes on in WoW. For my money it's one of the best designed games around.

From the very beginning, WoW has been pushing out of a generic pseudo-medieval setting into a steam-/magicpunk setting. I, for one, can only approve of this, as the standard pseudo-medieval setting for MMOs is getting stale. Bring me more cannons, guns and technology I say! I can see how it might be off putting for some, but I enjoy it immensely. Along with motorcycles there are: Blimps, Airships (no gas involved, both Alliance and Horde have exactly one in Icecrown), bi-planes (gnomes and dwarves have a freaking airport), what might be an atomic bomb in the Alliance airship, robots (both gnomes and goblins and engineers), tanks (dwarves), biological weapons (Forsaken) etc etc and I love it all. <3 yeah I get it...I started with beta too. I forgot about that dwarven airstrip. Just srprised they took it that far. Now the REAL rare mount is the standard horse!

Blizzard made video of some of the new stuff you will see.
Makes me want to go back even more... must resist the urge.

I caved and bought the expansion last night and subbed for a month.
You can catch me on the Silver Hand server as Druzz (80 Druid) or Lanir (80 Mage). Holler if you need help with any quests. I am always willing to help.

There is a small part of me that's very jealous of everyone playing right now. Hope everyone is having a great time!

I'll be Hordeside on Mal'Ganis for awhile, once things have settled down you can expect to see me drop in back at my ol' stopping grounds of Silver Hand.

I'll be jumping in after school on Wednesday. Luckily (for me) the box doesn't get delivered until the 8th, which is good because I really need to finish my final project/presentation that's due that morning.

I rolled a little Worg druid pup this afternoon named Craythur. I spent a lot of time smiling at the sounds. I've not played in about two years. It's funny how happy the old sounds make me. The level up chime. The quest accepted drum. The low tone that signals you've discovered a new area. Good times. It was also pretty cool that my human form ended up looking like the first character I rolled 6 years ago.

Yes, I'm fighting it too. It helps that my accountant (who lives in my brain) has reminded me that I've left the initial game and the first expansion discs at my folks' house some four hours away, and that I missed the sale on the wrath of the lich king expansion. If I were to get into it, it would still cost me 80 dollars, or 110 if I just can't wait for it till after Christmas. Still, it's tougher to fight it now that everyone's telling me how great it is.
