I have a Nostromo N52TE and I really like it. It isn't a whole keyboard, of course, but it's easier to keybind a buttload of things without requiring odd hand positions or excessive finger stretching.
Edit: Assuming, of course, that your hands are big enough. I can see people with short fingers having issues with it.

Old school Nostromo here (N52 - N52te is nicer looking but I prefer the configuration tools for the original ). I agree...get it and you won't regret it. I worked on Ssark for a long time and he finally caved. I'll have to see what he thinks. I can't play without it now.

What's the difference in configuration software? I got mine as a gift so I never did research.

Is there such a thing as a cheap gaming keyboard? Everyone I see is in the upwards of 40 to 80 bucks, which is outrageous for a keyboard.
EDIT: Ya Grammar!

I have an old nostromo somewhere, but I don't use it. May have to dig it out. Maybe it and an xbox controller would work.

You can buy an original Nostromo for about $15, but I don't think I'd save the cash and miss out on the improvements.

So I did a search on Nostromos... They look like severed hands. O.o Since I have to sleep in the same room as my computer, I looked on... Stumbled over this; www.ideazon.com/us/products/fanggamepad.aspAnyone have experience with a Fang?

What's the difference in configuration software? I got mine as a gift so I never did research. The Belkin built software allowed for greater configuration is all. You can usually find threads on this under the reviews for the te version on Amazon. But the te version is very nice and looks sweet. For a while there, you could buy the old N52 version for about 15-20 bucks but I'm not sure if you can still even find it.

Fair enough. I read about that, but having used the TE stuff I'm not feeling the lack of options.
Also, I dismissed the Fang as an option when I was looking to buy a gaming device such as we are discussing before I was given one because it doesn't have a D-pad for movement. The movement keys are laid out like the WASD keys and so you'd still have to move your fingers like you would on a keyboard. With the D-Pad, you use one digit for movement and the other 4 are always available for abilities.

I use the Zboard Merc. Just like the fang but the keyboard is attached. Think the new model is the stealth( all black with backlights). I really like it. Easy to configure and work with.

yep I've had one of these since 2004 : www.ideazon.com/us/products/mercgamingkeyboard.aspand I love it. I want a new one for WAR though because mine has certain keys that stick when I push them.... apparently spilling beverages in your keyboard is bad.
