So here's the deal; my parents want to buy me a gift for my birthday and graduation, and since they missed both, they agreed to get me a laptop to replace my current one, a very nice one that is none-the-less 5 years old and falling apart from use. The thing is, they refuse to give me a budget, so I am not sure how much money I have to spend. They asked me to find 3 computers; one high priced, one mid priced, one low. I am thinking high will be around 1,000ish - I highly doubt they buy it all together, but if it's really really nice I'll add some of my own money to it. Medium I am thinking is about 750ish. Low is about 500ish, or what I would have to spend to get basically only slightly better than I have now. I really need some help though. I know desktop hardware pretty well, but laptop hardware tends to be different enough to throw me for a loop. I also don't have as good a grasp on what's a deal and what isn't. I am looking to upgrade from my currents specs, as listed here: Intell Core 2 Duo, 2.00 Ghz 2 gig ram 14 inch screen 136 gig hard drive NVIDIA Geforce 8400M GS I have two main goals in the upgrade: 1st and most importantly, get a bigass harddrive, at least 300 gigs but preferably more (I store my music on my laptop so I can sync my ipod to it while I am traveling). 2nd, increase gaming capabilities. I am happy with my monitor size; anymore than or less than 12 through 16 inches would be too big or small for my purposes. I really appreciate any ideas or advice you all may have.

I'll search Newegg and see if I can find anything, that's how I landed my brother's and sister's laptops, both of which have either 500 gigs or a Terrabyte, and game perfectly fine.
