I didn't get home till late last night and I was too tired to play. How's it going in OB so far? Heard lots of reports of lag.
Is it due to the patch or due to it being open beta and being flooded with people?
Hopefully I'll see everyone on tonight!

Last night was OK for me, but this morning stinks. My guy is currently all frozen up. And ya, I really prefer the Elyos side

It was ok for me from levels 1 to 6, but then some wicked lag hit, and it was pretty much unplayable. So I went and did something else...I'll be back online tonight, probably.
Oh, I also had to shutdown NetLimiter before playing, or else the game slams shut with an Illegal Program error.

I saw on another forum that Asmo had reached the server limit and you can't create new Asmodians. I don't believe we can communicate with the Elyos side or vice versa, Aniat.
As for me, the game is unplayable for now. If I do manage to connect, I can't move and get disconnected. This is even using the suggested temporary fix that people have suggested, Gamepath. Without Gamepath, I can't connect at all. Shrug. Not sure where the problem is, but hopefully, they will fix it soon.

It's basically unplayable for me on several different combinations of gaming PCs/ISPs/OSes/Aion servers. I can't even log in half the time and when I DO get in, pings start in the low 1000s and go up from there. Sieglinda is filing multiple bug entries with NCsoft as we speak. Sorry you don't like Asmo, Zeli The capital city is pretty cool if you can make it that far. The quests change a lot once you get there, lots less "break stuff, steal shit and listen to heavy metal" and lots more "how can I be a better Daeva" type themes.

LinkFrom a previous thread, looks like they are using Twitter for a lot of their announcements. Blargh! I've resisted this Twitter nonsense...

I logged in about 2 hours ago, and it was unbearable. About 1.5 hours ago it got a ton better. Pretty smooth at the moment.

When I logged in last night and grouped with Grok a while, I wasn't encountering any noticable lag. So it was a pretty tremendous difference for me at least, compared to the mostly unplayable condition it was in earlier in the day. Otherwise, I like it so far. The chatting is just not intuitive for me, though. Going from EQ to DAOC was a bit of a change, but not huge. DAOC to WOW also a bit different, but easily overcome in a couple mins....going from all that to Aion...holy crap! Did that wheel really need to be reinvented? seriously? Because its a fucking triangle now.A happy Aion player proudly displaying the innovative new chat engine.

I agree, Aruth. I was hitting /r to reply and it doesn't work. I also hate how when you do a / command for an emote or whatever that doesn't work, it shows up in whatever chat channel you are in at the time.

Chatting should be intuitive, not that hardest part of the game. That said, I was happy to see they cleared up some of the network mess. The game was back to being as stable as closed beta was for me. Asmo side was interesting to check out. I hated the initial starting area in terms of atmosphere. The desolation that's inherent from the story is a bit of a downer and running around all hunchbacked is kind of annoying. But overall I preferred the storyline a bit more, though not enough to make me switch from Elyos to Asmo.

I of course have only played Asmo, but to be honest the Elyos side seems a tad oo-so-cute, from seeing someone truy it on a different server. Nonetheless, the game seems to be a bit more professionally presented than WoW, but the sense of grinding and doing quests for minor gear upgrades is exactly the same as most. I don't have any strong sense of campaign storyline yet, unlike WAR, where it was evident form the first words out of the NPCs' mouths. I agree that the social systems, chats and, at the moment at least for me, friend finding systes are a tad obtuse. I also have no idea how one parties and does anything in a group. Combat is fairly simplistic so far, with the typical chaining moves, specials and whatnot. I have only once had something that I was grinding aggro to me when a neighbour got attacked. However, I am only L6, so that's likely yet to come. I am still wondering-- what is supposed to be the big draw of this game? The flying PvP? The eye candy and character customization are definitely a cut above the norm. The flavour text is comprehensive and the English is decent. I also like that they have already learned from a lot of other games' problems and built in some fairly user-friendly interfaces, including ones for selling junk, remembering learned skillbooks, and the like. Gubgubifex's ratings (out of 10-high): Eye candy 9 Gameplay 7 Backstory/quests 4 Overall 7 (not an average) Gameplay
