Mobs have a chance to drop stuff that gives AP. ^^^ I guess that's the conversion rate. The instances that were put into the keeps in 1.5 give a relatively safe way to gain AP. The instances do have lockouts on short timers, it's unconfirmed if the instances are all on the same timer or not but I would be surprised if they were. Sweet, this gives a good reason to PvE at end game, AND reason to defend a keep when it comes time to. The more and more I look at this game the more and more I see DAoC 2 with just improvements in places that needed to be made.

Are the instances your own instance, or can the other side get in as well?

The instance entrance is physically at the bottom of the keep I think.
I would imagine they're private instances, they have PvEvP instances in already
