That Aion has no skill tree's? Was just thinking the other day that I don't have to worry about picking a skill path, and I began to wonder if that's bad or good. Not sure how this plays out later, so more experienced players may be able to tell me. With one person essentially having the same exact skill set as the next person in their class, do people end up knowing exactly what to expect in a fight? Are there simply so many skills available that theres more than one way to go about a fight, or do some skills just make more sense to use in the end?

I think the stigma stones are where customization comes in.

Yeah, stigmas are where the customization comes in(other than different gear sets of course).
So far, that's the only thing that will keep DAoC as the premier pvp game in my mind, the amount of differentiation in the classes. Just because you saw a guy in cloth didn't necessarily mean you knew what class he was, i enjoyed that extra degree of risk because you couldn't go into it thinking "alright so he's X, i need to do Y and W".

Stigmas are the only real customization. However, my only beef is that there are really on 2 different specs if you want to get the end ability. Clerics have a mass healing spec or a more dps oriented spec. Although even in the dps spec, they have some great healing abilities (like casting a self rez on a group mate), but I really do not see a whole lot of customization. The other thing I am having a real problem with is the mass amount of fear/cc/sleep in pvp, but that is life (as with any pvp game). But aside from a cleric (don't know if Chanters can remove physical/mental debuffs), there is no way to remove them, unless you get an ability like DAoC's purge (which was a godsend) through pvp. So if your cleric gets cc'd, there is not a whole lot you can do, except have another cleric to get rid of it. 6 cleric team...GOGOGOG!

Stigmas and gear aside, there are an awful lot of skills. Each rotation you can throw in something different, so you'll never know exactly what's coming next. For example, all templars will use that Inescapable Judgement at some time or other, but you never know if they're smart enough to wait until your widdle sorcerous shields are down. It might tickle, it might yank you into a mortal kombat flashback. I have plenty of skills available even now, and can't use all of them in one rotation, so I like to mix it up to avoid boredom if nothing else.
