The more I read about Aion, the more intrigued I become. Spinks has a great writeup here: spinksville.wordpress.com/2009/06/24/how-things-are-shaping-up-for-aion/ I'll make up a big link article about it tonight and point it to various blogs/sites ive been reading about it. Here's one quote from the entry above that caught my eye: "As far as I can tell, the endgame is all about PvP. There’s an open zone (or several) where you can fight other players and mobs, and capture keeps, Warhammer style" With as smooth as the game seems to run even on midrange systems (ill post some videos on the article if I can embed), this could be a sleeper hit.

Agreed, Aion is looking very interesting to me. Although I would like to see some male screenshots for the scout class. This may hold me over til TOR, but it sounds like if it's done right, it may entirely replace it. Need to play the game before I make that call tho

The more I read about Aion, the more intrigued I become. You're not the only one... Aion intrigue has swept across Phoenix Throne in WAR and now Big Plans TM are underway. Over in CotNS at least five of us (me, Rachel, my brother Alex, Jay/Kess, and Rafael/Smithee) will be playing Aion on launch. We will be playing Asmodians. One of the other Guinevere alliance guilds, Vigilance (led by notable oRvR leader Kiamar) will also be starting a chapter in Aion and will be rolling Asmos as well. We expect to be joined by many more Phoenix Throne players from both inside and outside the alliance, along with a nice-sized contingent of PT Destro Time will tell how long our excursion into the world of Aion lasts, but you can follow most of the ongoing developments over in the PT Realm Forum on WHA. Look for the really long "Aion" thread

Are Asmodians the bad guys?

Are Asmodians the bad guys? They're not bad, they're "less good." Kinda like how Batman is "less good" than Superman or Spiderman. They're definitely not EVIL, there is a pretty clear cut force of evil in the lore and it's the NPC faction, the overtly satanic Balaur. Here's a re-posting of some pro-Asmodian propaganda (with screenshots) that I wrote for the CotNS boards: Aion Factions: Elyos: "Lawful Good", preppy, Superman Asmodian: "Neutral Good", goth, Batman Balaur (NPC faction): "Chaotic Evil", satanic, Sauron Rachel and I both have a clear preference for rolling Asmos long term. Don't let the black wings deceive you, we Asmos are a noble race with a strikingly beautiful capital city. No slum-ridden peasant rabble like in Altdorf, and no bottomless pits of death like in the Inevitable City. Our city leaders are cheerful and well-mannered, and our esteemed scholars are among the best in the world. Sure our eyes glow from time to time, but hey, lots of Bright Wizards' eyes glow too, right? Hope this helps

blarg! why am I always wanting to play the other side?!?!?! Yes, why indeed... If you roll Elyos you will need to replace Elphaba in your avatar with Dorothy. How bland

Did someone say Batman? I'm a Batman kinda guy. But the only difference is cosmetic, right? The two sides are the same other than looks and quest text?

the only difference is cosmetic, right? The two sides are the same other than looks and quest text? There are some VERY minor differences in a few select "racial" skills you get late in the game but according to forum chatter on Aionsource they don't affect overall balance. The core mechanics along withall other abilities of all eight classes are identical across both factions. I'll give it a shot for sure when it hits but doesnt anyone want to play the evil side ? playin for the twinkle toes goodie goodies is gettin a bit old ! NOBODY gets to play the "evil" side in Aion, they're an NPC faction (the Balaur). If you read the lore and tour the respective capital cities you'll quickly see that the Asmodians are basically equivalent to the Empire in Warhammer Online from an ethics/morality standpoint. The Elyos are more "squeaky clean" and with this comes haughtiness and arrogance... the closest equivalent in Warhammer Online is the High Elves. So yeah, imagine a 3 way war between (playable) High Elves, (playable) Empire, and (non-playable) Chaos.

I think this got dropped because after I posted it, I mentioned it on one of the podcasts and you guys said something like, "is that the one with the angels?" and I said, "uhhh, they have wings, so...kinda" and that was about all that was said. So I figured there was no interest.....
