If your stupid like me and paid $75 for the Collectors Edition you can start on Wednesday. After beta I am seriously considering canceling my pre-order. I'm sure it's great for FF fans but for me it seems very restrictive, not to mention I'm still obsessed with Darkfall. Anyone else giving this a try?

I couldn't get into the first one, so I'm passing. How is Darkfall these days? I see updates on twitter periodically.

Darkfall is awesome.. Too bad it takes such a long time to level up because the 100 v 100 pvp battles are awesome. I'm still not powerful enough to stand my ground on the front lines but I can stand back shooting arrows and run in for a gank or rez from time to time. I hope that the expansion helps by adding more PVE and makes it a bit more noob friendly. Anyone who wants to give it a try there is a 15 day trial now. Look me up and I will help out with armor or weapns.

I only have time for one sub game, and I'm enjoying Trek right now. But once I finish all the story missions, I'll probably take a break until the user generated stuff comes out. May have to venture back to Darkfall.

I played the beta, and despite it being really cool that you can sort of make your own class....the gameplay bored me to tears. All too often, the quests (levies) you get don't get you to next tier of quests (so you'll have finished all available quests and you're level 7...but the next tier of quests requires you to be level 10) means you end up just aimless bashing whatever mob happens to be closest. Not very compelling. I definitely want to take Darkfall out for a spin. I'll do their trial once my Civ5 fever abates a bit.

Yeah, it's abit of a thought process. It's going a different route than the other mmorpuggers out there, and some people don't like that. For example, apparently it's been universally blasted in the reviewing press. I only watched the gametrailers review, in which the dude called it out basically for being an mmo. It's tough to level up, and you wonlt be hitting the level cap in the first week you play. It may not be for everyone.
I am enjoying it though. Sure, it's not easy. You have to look around and find stuff to grind away on (OMG! GRIND INNA MMO WTFZORZ!). Most of the gear is from other players, crafted out of materials that drop from gathering or from random mobs. There are some issues that SquEnix claims to be working on, and it seems that it was bad enough that they're extending the free trial for another month. Oh well, I'm fine with that, at least it was playable at launch, unlike some other MMOs... well, most of them, I mean.
