I seem to get in a state a lot where I stop hearing everyone and they stop hearing me. If I disconnect/reconnect, all of the messages I missed get played back to back. Sometimes it goes for 10 min, other times I have to reset it every minute or two.
Anyone else have this problem? Is it a compatibility issue with win7 64?

There's a 64-bit version of Ventrilo available on www.ventrilo.com/download.phpI have absolutely no issues at all with that version with my 64-bit Windows 7 Professional or Home Premium (girlfriend's).

My in-home IT professional said it could be something to do with your network ... though I couldn't get any other information from him at that point. I'll try and see if I can get more out of him.

We have a wireless network, but it is far from my PC, so reception can be bad. I have another wireless router set up as a bridge, and my pc is wired into that one. Next time I can try the wireless in my PC again to see if that makes a difference. Vent was working before, so I'm trying to figure out what changed.

Unfortunately the router is far and inaccessible from my office. I'd have to dig into the walls to run wire across the house. It does seem to be a common issue on Win 7 though, so maybe it isn't the network. Lots of sticky threads about it: www.ventrilo.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=4

I had the same issue back when I was using Vista and I was able to find a solution back then that I have been using with Win 7 now. Problem is that I won't be able to post what I did till I get home from work, which will be soon. It's worked for me so maybe it will help you, hopefully.

my problems are back when I play L4D. I am now running as admin, vista sp 2 compatibility, and programs shouldn't be able to take full control of the sound.

I had this issue as well. This is what I did to fix it. forum.ventrilo.com/showthread.php?t=43879Make sure the correct sound devices in the drop down menus are selected as well. I had to change a few of mine. Since then I have had no problems. Good luck.

Awesome, thanks!
This last go round of installing Vent is working for me. Maybe they set this up as the default to avoid the issue.
