Just a heads up, that monitor is very good for gaming but the max resolution makes a 2nd 4870 almost useless. One 4870 will push that resolution at max settings in everything out there except for maybe a very small number of newer titles. If you're going to go crossfire with a 4870, look for an LCD that supports the 1920x1200 range or higher or else you'll get at most a 20-25% improvement in your fps and that's really reaching. I have to see if I can find them but I have some benchies of Half-Life 2 and the video stress test with single card vs SLI from 1024x768 all the way to 2560x1600. If memory serves me, anything below 1440x900 actually yielding lower fps. 1440x900 got about 10%, 1680x1050 saw around 20-30%, 1920x1200 saw 25-50%, and 2560x1600 saw 50%-80% improvement in fps. Granted SLI and X-fire do the same thing just in different ways but it's not night and day when you break down the numbers. Just don't want to see anyone waste $300 and get almost nothing back for it!

Thanks for the info. Do you have any suggestions on an LCD that supports the 1920x1200 range (that wont break my bank)?

Usually any of the 24" LCD's support it. Don't let the response time be a huge factor either. I have two big LCD's for my pc's, one's an Acer 24" @ 5ms and the other is the Dell 30" Ultrasharp @ 8ms. The 30" not only feels smoother but has no ghosting on it. www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010190020%201301919996%20131061720%201309821328%204019&name=%24300%20-%20%24400The Acer 24" on there is the one I have. As you can see it'll cost you between $30-$50 more. 1920x1200 is a gorgeous resolution to game on. You'll never need to set AA past "4x" either as anything higher is barely if even noticeable. The only complaint I ever had about that Acer was the damn thing is so bright on default settings you need to turn it down. They have it pre-shipped at 100% brightness and it is literally enough to light a fairly large room! 50% is about where you'd want it. Possibly lower. I've only ever used Dells, Acer's, and Samsungs so I can't really vouch for any of the other larger manufacturers. You could always just go off the reviews. I'm a newegg guy but I'm sure Tiger has something similar to choose from. Your other option is to just go with that LCD and drop on of the 4870's. Personally, I'd go bigger but then again I'm Irish so I'm sure deep down inside I'm trying to compensate for something. :-(

I second the response time thingy.. almost every monitor on the market has a great response time. 2ms vs 8ms is barely noticeable if at all. Also, I've heard that the 2ms monitors sacrifice color accuracy for the higher response time. I got a 2ms "gaming" monitor only to realize later that it was overkill and the color accuracy isn't that good.

I'd also like to say that I recommend Costco to purchase monitors from...I love NewEgg and just purchased a couple of new rigs from there but Costco has a much better return policy on dead/stuck pixels (they bug me too much to not go with Costco). RMAs with NewEgg cost you a pretty penny on larger monitors (shipping - IF they even take it back - I think it's 8+ dead/stuck pixels for them to consider a return but someone may have to correct me on this). Everything else I use NewEgg...for monitors...Costco (if they have what I want). I got another one of these for my wife: www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11236988&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=&lang=en-USNot great for video/picture editing but great for gaming and a great value for the size (but keep in mind it's essentially a blown up 24" monitor with its max res - looks great IMHO). Read some NewEgg reviews for more information: www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824254026&Tpk=hanns%20g%2028Good luck!
