Does anybody know if its worth the upgrade to vista to take advantage of direct x 10 if you have an x10 video card? Other than that i still love xp.

If your card supports it? YES! (if graphics are important to you, the improvements are dramatic) But not right away, wait for more games that support it first.

I was thinking about upgrading now that I have a DX10 card, and now that a newer SP is out. As long as I don't take it anywhere near Zeli's computer

If you have a recent processor and a decent amount of memory, VISTA works fine. I got it on my new Dell last year around the time when it first came out, and I haven't had any trouble. It took a little while for drivers to catch up, and some new software wasn't designed to work on it (WTF? They knew it was coming.), but there are workarounds.
The interface is way slicker than XP. If your system isn't up to par, then it will probably suck. I think that's why so many people had bad experiences.

I guess the next question then is WAR being built for dx10 or just dx10 compatible? And thank you for the input so far ;D

DX10 offers a lot of nifty eye candy. However, at this time I don't think anyone should upgrade just for the sake of upgrading. Pound for pound all games currently run slower in DX10 than DX 9, even at identical rendering options and quality. It's cool, full of great wiz bangs, but unless you've got a nice beefy gaming rig, it's not worth upgrading just for the sake of getting DX 10 stuff.
That all being said, I do have Vista, and enjoy it greatly. And hope to get my own DX10 card here soon if only because my 7950 GT is starting to show it's age, and doesn't really like driving 2 1620x1040 flat panels.
