Dells and Samsung are very popular and good quality, but not without issues, kind of like yours Tye. Sounds like yours might have a bit of red-push. FWIW here is the site I use for tuning brightness, contrast, convergence, gamma and moire: www.scarse.org/adjust/

Actually.. I did some research.
Samsung does this shady thing called a panel lottery. Basically all the review sites got monitors with 'S' panels, but Samsung has started building them with other companies panels (A, C, and D). I originally got one with a D panel which was horrible. One of the features called RTS didn't function right with the panel and it created horrible ghosting. The color was way off too. I did a swap out at Best Buy and got an A panel which is pretty much the best of the junk panels. I had to do some calibrations to get the colors right, but its still not on par with an S panel. If you actually get one with a true Samsung panel in it, its a great monitor. I've settled for the A panel. The colors are close enough and RTS works.
Hewlett Packard and Dell are supposed to make quality monitors. Anything you decide on do a google search on it with "panel lottery" and see if anything comes up. Also check out some hardware forums like AVS Forum and Hard Forum. Those guys seem to be more on top of things than review sites.
Oh and I would recommend just paying the extra and going with a store like Best Buy so you can swap out for different models if you don't like it.
On the brighter side, I get zero ghosting, its nice and sharp, and I have no dead pixels.

Well, resurrecting this thread back from the dead... My gorgeous, beloved CRT is starting the flicker of death So I'm now in the market for a 24" widescreen LCD. Haven't decided on which yet, so I was wondering if any of youse guys have one and can give an owners honest opinion: LG L245WP-BN Black 24" 8ms Widescreen LCD Monitor Acer AL2416WBsd Silver 24" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor BenQ FP241W Black 24" 6ms(GTG) DVI Widescreen HDMI LCD Monitor HP LP2465 Carbonite-Black 24" 6 ms (typical gray to gray) DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor SAMSUNG 245BW Black High Glossy 24" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor I've scratched the Dell 24" off the list, at least temporarily due to a lot of ghosting/blur reports. Also, haven't quite decided on if I want to skip TN screens (fastest) and stick with fast S-PVA's(compromise) or IPS's (best color)

I've always been happy with Viewsonic...are there problems with those?
I'm interested to hear what you get Aruth as I'll be in the market for one come December.

I like my Viewsonic (19") as well. But I don't have one of them fancy new fan-danggled widescreen jobber-dos either. ;D

Well there might be a delay on the WS LCD. I found out that my monitor had a 3yr warranty, and it expires this month! Only problem is, I gotta ship the 53 lb sumbitch to Cincy for service. I still have the money saved for the lcd, so maybe I'll get this one repaired and pass it on to my wife.
BTW, right now I am leaning towards the Samsung widescreen LCD.

eww, it's Cincy. UPS wants about $23 to ship it, and FedEx is close to the same. I figure it's worth it. The picture quality is awesome.
