My friend is publishing a card game on Kickstarter right now:
Hocus started out as "poker with spells" but has grown into something much more unique. Grant and I get together a few times a month to play games and test each other's designs, so I've seen it grow. I think it would appeal to this crowd, and I know it is a quality game, so I'm helping to promote it.
It is more complex than a standard card game (poker, spades, etc.) but not as complex as the hardcore board games. Great for casual folks who aren't big board gamers and as a light/filler game if you are big board gamers.
Check it out. I backed.
By the way, Grant is a producer at EA and has worked on The Sims series for years. He does board games on the side.

I looked at it before knowing these were the guys you had been talking about, and I backed.
Looks really cool, and decent deal for $15.

Yeah. It is fun and very smooth. A lot of self-published games aren't polished enough, but this one has no rough edges. These guys are pros who have shipped video games as well as board games before. Now they want to start their own company.

That seems really cool!
Wonder if I could get my wife to play...

Grant seems to have gotten some of his best responses from his family and other folks who aren't that into games.

I've been contemplating backing. Just saw this post. Great art direction. I just backed Epic Card Game and Bard's Tale but I may have room in budget for this.

You won't be sorry. And they are aiming for long term success. This game is launching their company, and they have several more in the works. Grant and I get together once or twice a month to test each others games, so I've seen the future!

The artwork is gorgeous. I went to Origins with some friends earlier this summer and have been looking for some games to get into. Backed it!

I had no idea any others MPers were at Origins. I would have loved to say hi!
