December 1st! Have you started decorating or anything yet? I used to hate Xmas, literaly lock myself in my room from the 24th until New Years when Hort would come back from visiting his family in Ottawa. (Then I'd lock myself in my room with him, but that's a different story ) The last couple of years have been ok, but we've spent them with Hort's family. This year we get to have our OWN christmas. My family asked if they could come down xmas morning when Raine got up and I said NOPE! We'll be going up there after anyway. This year I'm sooooo excited! We put up our outside lights and decorations last week and I started decorating inside this week. Tonight we get to actually turn on the lights outside. (I refuse to do it before Dec 1st ) I'm putting the tree up today, yay! It's always a bit of a conflict for us though, being that Hort is Catholic and I am not. He wants to teach Raine the true meaning of xmas, not Santa too much and all that jazz... and well I go along with it as much as I can, but you know, I wanna have FUN! ;D Who else loves xmas with me this year?! I can't wait for the drunken parties with friends! Christmas parties always have a different, comforting feel. Bring on the rum and eggnog!!

I love Christmas and decorating. This year, I'm even going to bake cookies! We started a bit last Sunday. We put up the outside lights and moved the living room furniture around to make room for the tree. Matt was running around, tripped over the vacuum cord and hit his head on the corner of the wall and split his forehead open, so we had to stop to go to ER. He's fine. It's not deep and only about half and inch long, so they glued it. We decided that was enough for a day and we'll be doing the rest this weekend. EDIT: I love good eggnog! I like it with rum, but I actually prefer it with whiskey. It's weird because I don't like whiskey in anything else.

Oh jeese Z! I'm glad he's ok! I don't mind blood at all, but when I see kids bleeding, I start shaking. Raine did that to us when we were moving into this place. We put the head board for our bed (which is very heavy duty tyvm ) up agaisnt the wall and went to get more stuff. Raine tried to dust it and it fell on her. I thought it would have crushed her little bones. We ran her to the ER because she refused to walk or sit down. She wouldn't stand for the Dr either, so I put her down and walked away from her. Didn't the little bugger come running after me She was fine, just a little bruised. I hate moving furniture with her around, but we didn't have any choice. I've never tried it with Whiskey! That's my goal for the weekend!

Try it with a good Irish whiskey. I had my son put up most of my outside stuff last week (I sent him to Canadian Tire to pick up a "few" strings and some other outside decorations and he came home with $200 worth). I usually decorate the inside and put my tree up the first weekend in December but Erin can't come home until next weekend. I've also got to get my baking started so I can put some goodies in parcels I'm mailing out!

this is my first xmas not as a batchlor, but we are going to visit our families, so probably won't decorate much. I do like to play xmas music in the background though.

Those wacky Canucks....buying X-mas decorations from a tire store! Next you are going to tell me that they name coffee shops after hockey players! Because our cats can't keep their fat asses out of our christmas tree, we usually put it up late, and take it down early. Ever see a 22lb cat climb to the top of a 7' christmas tree? I have...for like 8 seconds before it came crashing to the floor. We made the mistake of letting the cats roam the house freely one christmas, while we were at work, and came home to a downed tree, broken ornaments, sparkling pooh in the litter box, and garland filled vomit on the stairs. Now when the tree goes up, the cats get confined to the basement while we are at work, and in bed (or at work in bed).

Hey, Canadian Tire (aka "Crappy Tire", as dubbed by my Mom, who used to work there) rocks! You can find a lot of stuff there! Hell, you can even register there when you're getting married. And what's more, Mr. Smartypants, we now even have Canadian Tire stores with Tim Horton's IN them!! It's like the Canadian males' wet dream. And one of my cats used to climb the tree but she only did that when it was a real tree....so we go with the fake ones now. I guess time will tell if the puppy is going to keep biting the ornaments, thinking they're balls.

about 75% of the decorations are up - have some exterior lights that were out so I didn't put them up yet (and now it went and got chilly and icey). Hope to get them done this weekend, also have a couple bulbs out in our candles for the windows - they're a PITA to find so I've got to track them down here shortly too...
The wife is looking for some wreaths for all the front windows, so thats something new we are looking to put up this year.
Also got a bunch of lights that are supposed to go around my deck... don't know whats going to happen with that - but have a feeling I'll be outside in the cold doing that too soon.
Ahhh - love this time of year...
