So last Wednesday I was level 6 and died if an enemy mob looked at me cross.
I decided that I'd either level up my character enough to play with the group properly or I'd be bored before level 10 and just not run with you guys.
Lo and behold, in the course of a weekend I'm now level 22 and loving the game. I even spent 5 bucks on keys to open some chests and got a crap-ton of astral diamonds as an indirect reward (long story).
The thoughts I shared on the podcast about the PvP in Neverwinter are still somewhat true, but now (after a few more matches) somewhat colored. I really enjoy the PvP matches, but I've had far more one-sided fights than close ones like my first. That said, the combat still feels more engaging and purposed than the fighting in Guild Wars 2. Negating damage with my shield on the frontline never felt so good in an MMO.
There is a slight fear that I'm working through the game with such a fervor that I'm going to burn out quickly or see things in the end-game that turn me off, but so far learning how everything in the game works has been fun.

Glad you like it! I saw a post that they are working on a PVP fix to make groups be closer in ability level. That should mean fewer 1-sided matches.
One problem that I found when leveling is that I got higher level than the content. So following the story was always super easy and a little boring. But if you are leveling by following the questlines, you should be good on that.

Don't forget to do Foundry quests. They're a fun diversion and it helps make the game feel less like a levelling treadmill. The Skirmishes are a ton of fun too.

But if you are leveling by following the quest lines, you should be good on that. Haven't out-paced it yet. In fact, the mobs in most story missions are often a level or two above me. I end up getting gear at the end of them that I can't even use yet. But that's sort of been a nice carrot on the stick for me to keep going. And to Grok's point, yeah, I should start doing one Foundry mission a night for the daily. They've been pretty good so far. Abb recommended the one where you're in a DnD campaign and you solve the mystery of what's going on in that dude's basement. Pretty great! Side note: do you get anything for creating a Foundry mission? I want to try it out anyways, but wasn't sure if there was some reward tacked on.

If someone plays your Foundry quest, they may tip you AD, but they don't have to. I had 2 quests out when the game released and since did a third. My first quest got Featured one week. I've made ~ 700,000 AD in tips. Mostly because I got featured.

That's cool.
I'll probably try coming up with something to start working on.
