As the article says, it's completely natural to have that initial slump after launch. Also, it seems to me like it's becoming more common for an MMO to become cool again with the community after about a year... and that's about where we're at with GW2.

Yep. The new constant strain of content is a huge boon. I told the guild I'd be taking the week off from the game to play Saints Row IV, but I'm having a hard time not logging in. THERE'S STORY STUFF GOING ON AND I'M MISSING IT!

Oh ya, the game is great and they give more than most sub model MMOs but I was more referring to this attitude of MMOers: where an MMO goes through the "omg everyone plays it, I'm so sick of it" and then gets rediscovered because it's not the hotness anymore so it becomes the hotness by not being the hotness and then gets appreciated for what it is... finally.

I still play routinely. I played little over a two month span, the first month of it because of computer problems (finally discovered a bad stick of RAM) and the second because of the crappy WvW matches now. When they matched us against JQ, then SoR and BG, it was fun again. Sure, we couldn't beat the T1 servers. But it's much more fun being an underdog, imo. I have 4 level 80's now. Something I have never done in any game, ever. Usually, IF i get a character to max level, I quit shortly after. Rolling alts has always been a sign of boredom for me. So yeah, I like the game. As for the new content, I appreciate what they are doing. But oi. The rate they roll it out is really rather intimidating to me. I simply can't keep up. And I also am eagerly awaiting some of the upcoming WvW changes. Because, like most games that try PvE and PvP, one seems to get pushed aside in favor of the other. WvW hasn't had much attention, other than masteries, which are kind of meh. I'm interested to see what they do with orbs. And how these capture points in what are now the borderland lakes plays out. I'm also spending far more money in this game than if it were a sub. Damnit, I want that Magitech medium armor, even though I'm not playing my engi hardly at all anymore. So cool!
