I’ve been fighting the idea of leaving the guild for the past couple weeks. Please understand that there’s absolutely nothing that anyone else did to bring this consideration about. My reasoning is two-fold.
First, I’m simply not in the right state of mind or place in life right now to lead a guild. I know we’re all laid back here, but I want something more for everyone and I can’t provide it. We’re all adults and we understand each other’s issues, but adult sized problems in the real world can make putting forth effort in the game a hassle when it should be fun. Right now, I’m looking for a new job because my current position may be eliminated at any time. I’m still not certain it will be or when, but the idea that I’ll be without work at any moment is a bit stress inducing.
The other reason I want to leave is because I’m genuinely enjoying Guild Wars 2. Not to sound crass, but the fact is that I don’t want to soil my experience in the game by sticking around in a dead guild. Let’s face it, when there’s only 3 or 4 people representing the guild any given night, there’s not much of a chance for activities. I really want more. I’m not sure where I’ll find that yet, but I think I just need to step back and look at my options.
I want to thank everyone for coming along and trying to make it work. I especially want to thank Vejuz for putting forth so much effort with getting the guild organized when the game launched. I also want to apologize to Vejuz for now leaving the guild in his hands. To some degree I feel like I’ve let you all down. I really hoped that this game would be different for us. It is for me, but again, I’m not in the best place to lead. So instead of dragging this out and not experiencing the game to the extent that it can be, I think it is best I move on.

No worries. You have a lot going on. No need to make game time unfun.

No worries man, I hear you.
I feel some blame too, as I am in no position right now in my life to lead anything.
I love the guilding system in this game, so I will join others where my friends are, and switch around representing to see what helps my in-game time.

Are you guys going to stay on Sanctum of Rall, or move to another server? (Not that it will matter much once ghosting gets implemented....plus 24hr transfers are not a big cooldown in the mean time.)

No worries dude. Of course, this post leads me to my next question...
What guild is everyone representing? Combat Wombat (a name I love)?

What guild is everyone representing? I'm actually representing Vigilance [VIG] about 95% of the time. [VIG] was allied with [CoT] back in DAoC and WAR. I first became acquainted with VIG in WAR, while I was a member of CoT. After CoT moved on from the game I joined another allied guild, Children of the New Sun, but spent lots and lots of time grouping up with VIG members throughout the rest of my time in WAR as well as the time I spent playing Aion. Given CotNS' diminished activity in GW2 I have moved over to formal membership in VIG. VIG is back big-time for GW2, we have 150 accounts on our roster of which about 135 are primarily repping the guild. It is a 100% WvW dedicated semi hardcore guild, we have groups running from 7PM to midnight Eastern time every night. Ask Vejuz or Atherton, they have run with us a couple times, we are one of the 4 or 5 top WvW guilds on Sanctum of Rall I say semi hardcore because: there are no mandatory events, no guild meetings, no one has ever been kicked for not repping, and because some people in VIG are known to do PvE activities from time to time and we don't make fun of them too much My other 5% of repping is split between CoT and two of my GW1 guilds that are over on Stormbluff Isle.

Yeah, VIG sounds good to me. I'd also like to get into Combat Wombat if anyone knows how.

Do they have a site? Application? That sort of thing? Got anyone on during PST? Site: www.vigilanceguild.com/ - like these forums you need to get the webmaster to give you special access to the good stuff. Send me a PM here if you decide to get an account. Forum use is not mandatory to be in the guild Application: No, there is no app, recruiting is 100% personal references which means automatic entry for anyone from CoT as the VIG GM (Kiamar) remembers the DAoC alliance. Send me a tell in-game at biff.2536 if interested Pacific time zone activity: obviously it drops off significantly after midnight Eastern/9 Pacific but there are typically still around 10 or so West Coasters who will be on for a couple hours past that, along with a select few insane hardcores living in Greater North-Central Amphetistan who stay on all night Yeah, VIG sounds good to me. I'd also like to get into Combat Wombat if anyone knows how. Yep, definitely join Combat Wombat if you like GW2 PvE because you're not gonna get that in VIG. By the way, I don't want it to seem like I am trying to poach members, my touting of VIG is strictly meant for WvW interested people to consider us as a secondary guild... I know Vejuz has put a lot of hard work into organizing CoT for GW2 and with the multi-guilding system in place I don't see any reason to leave CoT personally.

Thanks! WvW is what will keep me interested long term, so a guild with people playing it at my hours will be important. biff.2536 didn't work, but I did friend someone named biff.2635. I made an account there as "winin". FYI, my brother was big into RvR in DAOC and he's enjoying the WvW now. He might be interested too.

So I've been thinking about how to handle this. As others have said, I have no problem at all with multiguilding. I have no plans to disband CoT in game, and I will continue to spend whatever influence we earn to the benefit of the guild. As usually happens to us in any MMO, our number of active players spiked and then rapidly fell. It's not that uncommon for there to only be 2 or 3 people on at a given time. While I want people to represent CoT and enjoy the time they spend in game, I also don't want people to feel trapped here. I'd like to keep everyone involved in CoT together, even if that means we're all representing a different guild. To that end, if you do join another guild, don't be afraid to tell us. Might be we'll find a suitable new home for everyone. My own free time is highly chaotic; sometimes I have tons and tons of the stuff, sometimes none at all. To this, I plan on keeping CoT small. I'm not going to change the recruitment policy (invite only) and I don't plan on making a big recruitment push. I'm interested in joining Combat Wombat myself as I've had a ton of fun running dungeons with them, but I dunno about their recruitment policy. I'll need to track down one of their members to find out. As for WvW, I've run with Vigilance quite a few times, shadowing in their vent. They're a good bunch, and they've definitely got their act together. I highly recommend them for WvW.
