Loved the comments at the end...it's Gandalf riding Shadowfax... Definitely reminds me of DAoC...so can three worlds duke it out in the borderlands or whatever they are called? If so, they are definitely cashing in on the DAoC formula and I'm glad they are. Also, can I PvP all the way up the ladder? Because, if so, that's what I may be doing considering the wife may not be playing.

Yes, the Mists (which is what the open PvP area is called) are fought over by three different factions. According to the wiki, the three factions (which are different servers) are made up based on rank. How they figure that rank I'm not totally sure on, but I'm assuming it has something to do with the points your server earns in WvWvW. So, the idea is that you'll never (or less frequently) have a low pop server mixed in with a high pop server. The wiki also says that you can enter the Mists once you finish the tutorial, and are bolstered to level 80, allowing you to participate right away. It also says it's possible to level all the way via just the Mists (seeing as players you kill will drop XP and loot (random loot, not their own gear)), but I'll believe that when I see it. I was honestly in the dark about this info until earlier today when I was looking into it more. I cannot tell you how pumped I am for this game now.

Yes, i went in to wvw during the beta at low level, i think i first entered at level 5? but you can definitely enter at any time after the tutorial because it's just a button on your character sheet that takes you there.
personally i got creamed so i didn't get to see what the loot was like, because i was the one dropping it rather than picking it up.
they did the rebalancing of the wvw servers three times over the beta weekend, and it worked quite well. when it goes live the way it works is after two weeks of fighting they total the score for each server, and rank a winner, a middle score, and a loser, and keep track over time to try and match against other servers with similar performance. for us during the beta weekend they totaled the score once a day to test the system, instead of waiting two weeks. Before the first daily rebalance we dominated wvw completely, the other two servers had like 1 or 2 towers left, and we took everything else, all the keeps and everything. during the second match up we got our asses beat badly, we were dead last, and on the third one i think we ended almost dead even with the two other servers. so it took two rebalances to get a fair fight, but when it was fair it was very fair.
going into wvw does boost you to level 80, but it doesn't change your gear or unlock all your abilities. So leveling to 80 first will make you better than going in at level, but as you saw and heard in the video, a lot of the game play in wvw is about siege equipment, positioning and press of bodies, so you can still be quite effective at low level, ressing people, and manning catapults, and hauling supply around, and such.

Groovy...thanks for the info you two.
Looking forward to this one...haven't played an MMO since I left WoW a few years back and things are calming down enough to where I might have some free time.
I'm also glad there isn't any real raiding as I'm not sure I could handle it...and I'd feel compelled to do it if it existed.

I like that 4 friends nets you a full group for anything in the game. Now if only I had friends.
