Thanks for the heads up on this! I looked it up since I had some fun with the the Dark Eye CRPG, and have been dinking with it the past two days. It's not too bad for a web game

I haven't tried it, but I did re-install Torchlight. I loved multiplay with Diablo 1. Didn't do multiplay in 2 and couldn't get into the game. I never got far in Torchlight. I guess I'm not into clickfest games, especially when they are outside (D2). I do love dungeon crawl multiplayer games though. So, experts, what should I play to test the waters? Or should I just get D3 and hope for the best? I'll check Drakensang. Also there is www.pathofexile.com coming. And a stress test this weekend. I know nothing about D3 by the way.

What is the difference between D3, Drakensang, and Path of Exile? Any real difference? or just that D3 is pay once and the others are F2P? Are these persistent worlds like a MMO? Lobby games like Guild Wars? Personal servers like Neverwinter Nights? Single player? I'm very very far outside the "Descendants of Diablo" loop.
Thanks!

Drakensang is a persistant world, with pvp, and it's f2p.
diablo 3, when you first log in and are at character select has a lobby, where you can message friends in any blizzard game if you have realid friended them, and then you either choose a game to enter, ask for a public game, or create a private game. Once you do that you go into an instance of the game world which can support up to 4 players, and even if you are in a private game, you can still invite your friends to join you. Public games match you with similar leveled players automatically.
basically this means drakensang is more mmo quest based, and that the world is always the same. Diablo 3 on the other hand is more story based, and generates a random map for each game, giving it a bit more variety in play sessions, much like d1 and d2. Also drakensang is set up to try and get you to pay more as you play, and D3 just plays and is therefore more immersive.
both have the same controls though, overhead 3/4 view, click to movie and attack with the mouse, and a few abilities/potions bound to hotkeys.

Thanks! I played some Path of Exile tonight. Seemed like what I remembered of D and D2, but with prettier graphics and a beefier skill trees.
My key fear is that I'll pay $60 and the play it for 10 min (like I did with that recent Lord of the Rings crappy console port).
