Hey so my computer decided to start acting up recently. The symptoms are pretty much leaning towards faulty/bad RAM sticks. I have occasional to frequent freezing/locking/rebooting as well as the dreaded Blue Screen of Death. I have not changed anything in the computer recently, only did a reformat a couple months ago.
I have this sneaking suspicion that it is the memory gone bad, but anyone have any input on how to test this? I can start alternating taking pairs out/switching pairs.

I did the same thing with my last PC and found a bad stick.

At the bottom of the bsod there will be an error code after where it says critical stop. Usually it will look like 0x000000e3this though the last two digits will vary. Punch that code into a google search and look for the result on microsofts webpage. That will tell you what fault caused windows to stop. It might not be the ram but this will point you in the right direction.

You can also do a memory test, depending on your OS where it is, to tell you if it's your RAM or not.

You might also try downloading and running memtest86 and/or Orthos. Have the tests run overnight. Otherwise just swap out components and hope for the best!

I was typing on my cell and it was trying to die as I was typing.
I found out that all of my RAM was good, all 6 sticks, but the last 2 slots for my RAM had gone bad. So I'm just SOL until I break down and get a new motherboard (really, a new PC...)

Can you run it without RAM in those last two slots? Or is it that it won't even get past checking them to see if they're got sticks in?
