I saw this on the server facebook postings and I thought it was worth a share. I'd like to comment on the poor sportsmanship on this server. Leaving a warzone is nothing but a bad decision. It wastes your time because you receive no valor or commendations. It throws the team off balance. It make you look bad and it makes your faction look bad. If you're going to PvP in a warzone, understand that there is no such thing as a "sure thing." But, if you bite the bullet, farm a few medals, and try your best, you might not only get a decent about of rewards at the end of the match, but you might even contribute to a turn-around victory. Republic and Empire alike are guilty.

I'm a bit unsure how to feel about this.
This is an adult oriented guild and many of our members have families. I'm sorry but if my baby starts crying I am going to quit the warzone and go take care of him/her. What do you (not you, Zelis, but generally speaking) propose we do? Never join a warzone?
Wouldn't it be better to have a "casual" warzone event? Where players aren't made to feel "unsportsmanlike-like" when they have to take care of real life (frankly, more important) responsibilities?

I dont think the statement was geared to those who might leave the occasional warzone.
Some use the afking to get a new warzone with high lvl players in it. The statement was towards those who use it as an exploit

Agreed. Talo, this is meant towards those who intentionally leave the warzone in order to form a certain outcome, or just to bail out when they don't like the way things are going.
We certainly understand in this guild that we all have real lives and real life is bound to happen, no matter how hard you try to block it out.

Yep. There have been times where I have had to leave a keep siege in WAR or a scenario due to real life issues.
This refers to people who don't want to participate because of an elitist attitude.

I come across this attitude a lot in WZs. Mostly on Republic, but Empire is guilty as well (and tend to rage quite en masse if the opponent scores two in a row in Huttball).
I think not getting any rewards for the match is a fine punishment. People have legitimate reasons to leave a WZ, or can get disconnected and can't rejoin. That's absolutely not the issue here. If I have something urgent come up I'll chose to leave the WZ, and hopefully someone can take my place, rather that sit there AFK.
The problem is people who are too afraid to lose a match and abandon their team a lot of the time. This is only going to get worse when Bioware adds stat-tracking to the game. I got to 50+ Valor by losing 70% of my matches to face-stomping pre-made groups, so an embarrassing loss here or there doesn't really bother me.

Yea, imagine how much more people will try to do this in an effort to keep their win/loss ratio as shiny as possible. I never understood the need to avoid losses. If you lose, so what? I feel sorry for the people where this is the only thing they have to care for. An arbitrary number rating in a game.
I have left a warzone here and there if my family needs me. But, I've done countless warzones where I've seen multiple players drop out or AFK simply because their side was losing. I never have and never will understand this immaturity about losing.
The genuinely fascinating thing is that if you ask these same people why they do it, more often than not they believe they are doing the other players a favor by "ending their misery".

You know what I hate more than this, other Republic players in Huttball sending me tells. Telling me to stop killing them and get off their dick. I'm sorry, butt I came in that WZ to kill all read and if you are setting up for a pass every time on the catwalk, I'm going to get on your dick. It's sad when they have to beg to win.
On subject: I hope BW implements a bail=loss to the ranking.

Oh yes, sorry for the confusion on that... I think this is more geared towards people who intentionally do this with no real life reason.
Kids, family, wives, husbands, significant others, pets, roommates, parents and other real life beings of mass destruction always trump game and that does not play into sportsmanship at all.

I see, and that makes sense. Sounds aweful douchey to me that other players are doing that.
Bioware could probably make up for it by awarding more valor/commendations to those that stay in as a team loses players (the immature ones).

Eh... Just realized that then you'd have douches collaborating to use their alts to all drop from a game and amass valor for a single player (in turns).
Gees, I guess they'll always find a way to exploit....
