So, I was upgrading my gear today. I'm level 33. I have orange gear or purples - all with modification slots.
Usually every 10 levels or so I will head to the Galactic Market and grab some better Core gear (or use commendations on whatever planet I'm on). However on a level by level basis I find that upgrading modifications is the only thing necessary. Virtually all gear I find on quests is lower and only good for selling off. This includes Heroic Zones.
So I've been skipping them! Maybe I shouldn't - I mean there is Role Play value in doing them, but what else? Truthfully, I don't always want (or have) the time it takes to get a group of PUGs together for a heroic zone forray.
Am I missing something? Anyone else experience something similar?

Well the rewards are typically higher level than the standard quests...so they last a lot longer. Instead of a green or blue mod, you may get a purple mod. It's not that it's *not* worth the time, but up until the 20+ range, you would outlevel or replace the nicer gear in the time it might take to put together a team and finish all the extra heroic quests. (Assuming you're all at the appropriate level, not having some 50 rush you through it.)
After that since the levels go slower, I would say it's good to do them. I still don't, but I sorta go tunnel vision on my storyline.

I generally bypass Heroics. When I get one I always throw out a few LFG messages in general chat, but if nobody responds I just dump the quest.

What Pro says. They're defintely worth the time if you can find a group without too much trouble. The XP reward is typically 2x a normal quest on turn-in, and you get nice gear. That said, you can solo-quest a comparable amount of XP in about 30m, so it's worth keeping an eye on General, but not worth breaking your back over.
PS Many lower-level 2+ instances can be soloed up to the final boss (and maybe a guildie can pop over to help take out the final baddie).

You get a lot of commendations and orange gear from them.
I usually go back and solo them for oranges or do them when guildies are on and want to do them with me.

I hold onto them until they turn green and solo them for s's n' giggles. Less exp but I still get the story aspect.
