Hey all, I just got a nice brand new and shiny iPhone for Christmas. Got it cranked up and working and went to update iTunes on my computer and it keeps crashing/not installing. I have gone through all the steps that the support page and am waiting on a ticket to see if there is anything else to do. In the mean time I'd thought I would ask you all nice peoples! I download the iTunes from the Apple website set all the permissions, it starts to install then gets to the very end and bugs out and says "Windows could not complete the installation package. There was a part that was needed in order to complete. Please contact your package provider or service vendor." WTF??! I have tried multiple web browsers, running in safe mode, running windows update, disk check, etc, etc and I still keep getting this error.... I can install any other program BUT iTunes. I removed it completely, deleted all the folders, restarted, tried, restarted, tried again...and still nothing... Any thoughts??? Package vendor...giggity!!!!!

That is a strange error friend.. not sure how I'd deal with that other than contacting the beast directly.

Looking at both the Microsoft and the Apple forums, it looks like there are a good number people experiencing this. Just sucks I cannot update my iPhone... Just have to wait it out I guess!!!

Ok so after a long lengthy discussion with Apple support I tried a registry cleaner and there was an old Apple Update Software still on the registry that was causing it to crash on install. Removed with Microsoft MrFixIt (FREE!!!) and it worked!!! YAY!!!!!
