Translation: Oh shit they got our whole database! 401k data too!!!
Sony, EA, Bioware, XBox Live, (a bunch of others), and now Turbine...
These douchebags (the hackers) really piss me off. I really wish the book could be thrown at these people. Well, at least legal energy is spent on the important things, like Kucinich biting into an olive pit, or Stu Grimson butt hurt over some words that Don Cherry said..
I don't know about you guys, but I haven't used a credit card online for gaming or really any of my non-face to face purchases in almost two years now.

What do you use? Pay pal? Yes, or buying gift cards with cash. Even pay pal isn't as secure as it once was, but its easy to set it up with a secondary bank account that can't be abused too hard.

I got the same email last night.
I'm definitely sick of it. That and all the phishing schemes and getting individual accounts hacked as well. I had my WoW account hacked long ago and more recently Aion. It's ridiculous to have to spend such time keeping game accounts so secure and takes away from overall enjoyment.
I agree. Until some of these companies really go after these hackers, it will continue. Blizzard has more money than God. I would think they could go after some of these hackers.
Time cards are the way to go, but simply aren't as convenient for a lot of games. I'd probably buy mine from Amazon. And I'm just waiting for the day to hear that Amazon has been hacked. I know I absolutely never use my debit card online anymore. At least with a credit card, there is usually a limit on how much money you will be out. It doesn't save you, however, from the hassle of worrying about your personal information being stolen/identity theft. My husband and I have been seriously considering using one of the identity theft protection services.

I think the other douche bags in this equation are the companies themselves, almost all of which do not take security of our data seriously, preferring to engage in security theater (or the appearance, rather the fact, of security).
