After watching this, I think I'm settled in my decision to pass on Rift. I'm sure its a fantastic game, but I'm just not interested in another "WoW-esque" game right now. That said, I hope everyone who is going to play it enjoys it immensely

That made me even more excited, though I likely won't get a chance to see that stuff given my current schedule.

I totally see that. You just came off of a huge run with WoW, so it's no surprise that you'd be a bit sick of it for a while.
But as someone who has never seen WoW-type end game content, this looks like fun.

The possibilities seem there with everyone having 4 different roles to choose from...

I like the concept of the outdoor raid rifts. I wonder how many different "stories" there will be and if they are just randomly spawned or if certain locations always yield certain encounters.

Yeah, also, and this is a biggie, the ten-wo/man rifts won't take too long to do. At least compared to some of the WoW raids. Fun as those were, and even considering all the scenery, they were pretty much a slog through trash mobs to get to the next loot pinata boss. Here we're pretty much in one place, letting them come to us.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVED raiding in WoW. Fighting our way to the bosses, listening to and carrying out our commands, deciphering the boss killing walkthroughs on other sites, the endless banter about whose kung-fu was insufficient, that was all awesome (GO MIDIAN!).
But at the same time I realize that not everyone has the time to commit to 4 or 6 hours a night, every night, for weeks. Some of us have jobs, or families, what are otherwise referred to as LIVES. Not me of course, just some others, you know...
Damn that awesome classic rock station's DJ, playing Electric Light Orchestra's "Fire on High!" Now I have to listen to it over and over until my mind is no longer screaming to hear it! Hit me with the reverse speech again!

I am still holding out hope that between us and CoNS we'll be able to run some 10 man stuffs from time to time. But I am probably going to pace myself (I mean, after I outlevel Tak by 5 or 10 levels, you know ;D) on the content because I wont be doing myself any favors blowing through the leveling game.

Yes, we should definitely pace ourselves, play other games and callings, feed children, bathe spouses, do whatever we have to do. I for example am finally getting some more hours at work, and maybe changing jobs pretty soon, so the head start won't be helping me a whole lot. I'd hate for us to lose all but a few members a month and a half in out of burnout and boredom. Trion has claimed they'll have some more raid content out fairly soon after release, so we can take our time with it.
Why can't they make the cereal and chip bags resealable? Come on guys, even bacon is doin' it now!

But, but, I've been reading all the official boards about which specs are the fastest leveling and whose a total newb because they don't go mm/ranger/sab. What will I do now? Pick a spec that is fun?

Yeah, I was joking. The signal/noise ration on the official forums is already trending towards cesspool. I'm doing a few marksman skills to get good rdps, riftstalker for the armor boost, then all bard. When I get the other souls, I'll make my main set Bard/NB (for the boosts to cadence healing)/Riftstalker for melee survivability. That's what I have in beta and love it. I'll make a rdps bard for those times I'm in a group and don't need to take hits.

I messed around with a rogue for a bit and found that the Nightblade was definitely to my liking, little bit of melee with magic attacks and stealth so it helped break the pace from my mage. Very fun class and my second role was a rift role of all bard/nightblade for motifs... I really think I will have a serious case of alt-itis in this game, but that is a good thing!

One thing about this guild, you play what you want, craft what you want and so forth. It's all about having fun.
And official forums are almost always a cesspool these days, unfortunately. Never could figure out if you dislike a game so much, why you are playing and why are you taking the time to come around and whine, whine, whine about it. And the inevitable "omg! I ran into an (insert class here) that I couldn't kill! Nerf them!"
