Hey ho,
My system came pre-installed with McAfee, and so I've been using it. Now it seems to have gotten corrupted and I'm told to uninstall and reinstall. Seems like as good a time as any to switch. What is the latest and greatest plan? Last I checked, Microsoft Security Essentials coupled with Windows default firewall was the way to go. Still true?
Thanks, --Winin

My IT boyfriend still recommends it to everyone and it's what we use.

Avast Antivirus and Spybot S&E hold a special place in my heart.

I like Security Essentials and Windows Firewall.
I also keep Malwarebytes installed and up to date, but just for cleanup, not for any kind of active defense.

My seal of approval goes towards Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows Firewally, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and Spybot on the side.

My seal of approval goes towards Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows Firewally, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and Spybot on the side. Mash my seal of approval on top of this one, because that's exactly what I use.

I completely forgot about Spybot! *hurriedly downloads it*
I use Avast myself for anti-virus; it has some nice management features.
