Fun with Forums

As you are aware, we had to switch forums, yet again. You may remember last month’s newsletter including an “According to Molley” article on the security of the WebWiz forums and our Core areas. This was unacceptable to me. Shortly after that, even though I hadn’t done anything to our database, people where unable to post new messages. This began around 3:30pm on a Friday and by Sunday I still couldn’t get it fixed. The help forums were anything but helpful. I had to face facts that I simply do not have the skills to run the forums through WebWiz. We’ve been using Proboards now for 2 weeks with no problems that I’m aware of. If you notice any problems, please let me know right away. The Proboards support is actually supportive!
The areas that previously had passwords, no longer do. Thanks to the inquisitive nature of Molley, we have found the solution and access is based on guild ranks.
Last newsletter had a proposal for some new procedures for initiates. Due to the restrictions of Proboard, we’ll have to change it a bit. It doesn’t have the flexibility of WebWiz in terms of permissions to groups. All the changes can still be in effect except the following:
Trust and Reliance members can make and vote on initiate polls. Guild members and Loyalty members cannot. I think it is possible to open this up to all guild members, but this is a major change from our policy. Discussion should begin on our forums.
Personal Gratz
Molley and Horrton will move into their new place this week!
Gratz!
Man of Action
by Aberrant
This month's Man of Action is a very frustrated listener to a local rock radio station. Apparently they do not "rock" hard enough for this Man of Action. Listen to hear his displeasure as he takes action to resolve this important issue in his life.

Guild News – A WAR Alliance
By Zeli
Morg'th from Only-WAR recently asked us if we were planning on joining the alliance that is being formed on the Only-WAR website.
I think it's a great idea. He's connected with Mythic (more than any of us are anyway), he's really into Warhammer, and he's very serious on his forums about having a friendly and supportive community.
It may sound premature but this would set us up with, not only a guild, but a supportive alliance structure right from release. As a casual guild, we know how much this means to our participation in end-game and our survival.
My only hindrance is that I really wanted to get back together with Children of the New Sun and Seekers of Truth in this game. It is a childish hope, I know, but in case there is any possibility, I did begin a post on the SoT, CotNS, Dark Auspices and RlL boards. I am going to try and keep them informed of our decisions and hopefully we can arrive at the same place.
SoT is not currently planning on creating their own guild in WAR. They may choose to join up with an old DAoC alligned guild. I informed Vel that they were more than welcome in CoT.
CotNS is waiting for the NDA to be lifted before making any decisions.
DA has yet to respond to my post but I just left it this afternoon.
Reveille le Lion had a very warm reception to our inquiry. This is from Genessa DeLumine, Guildmisstress of Reveille le Lion:
"We also decided to 'go evil' And I wholehearted agree a RP server would be wonderful. I'll check out that site and will be posting your board info for the lions. Thanks so much for the heads up!! It'll be much more fun starting out with friends "
Obviously, if we decide to try the alliance and we don’t find the atmosphere to be to our liking, we could always leave that alliance. My hope is that, if it didn’t work out, we will have at least made some connections to the community that would allow us to join an alliance more to our liking.
I didn't give Morg'th an answer because I didn't want to speak for everyone. This is up for discussion in the Core area. Please share your opinion.
Half-Assed Review (tm)
New TV Show "Heroes"
1st episode had boring spots, but looks like it has potential for a good realistic take on superheroes. The stripper chick is hot!
October’s Guild Position Highlight
Loyalty Member: Recognition for members who belong to CoT for at least 6 months. This is not an elected position. CoTers should be Loyalty Members before they are nominated for the Trust Member position.
VOTE
There is a vote on for Councilor positions. The poll will close on 10/15/2006.
Moving On Up!
Vel and Wrasse have been moved up to "initiate" status. Despite the fact that we are not currently in a game to officially invite them, they remain loyal to CoT. This promotion gives them access to the guild area. Currently this is for board access only. If we would like to officially invite either of them to the guild and begin a poll now, we can do this based on board participation. Please discuss in the officers area.
LET'S HEAR IT
CoTers are not known for being wallflowers. If you would like to make your opinion heard, in the form of a column in our newsletter, please e-mail circleoftrust.guild@gmail.com.
