Over on the Warhammer forums: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/230/index/4594499
Some items (Incoming wall of text):
What exactly (or vaguely if you'd prefer...) will each of the 3 different rvr packs contain?
We're not ready to go into specifics on this yet, however you can infer from the titles (power, progression and personality). For example, Personality will probably have more to do with cosmetic things.
You say you are taking a look at ORvR in the packs, do you plan to do anything with forts and keeps, and even BOs?
Edit: Most importantly forts in this question
I cannot go into specifics regarding each of those individual componants to ORVR, however I can state that some of the things you're asking about will not be present in the same manner you've been used to for the previous 2 year
will you be including epic world bosses in the new zone? something along the line of the dragons of daoc for example or the world boss in lotd. Open world boss fights would be much preferred to dungeon instances as then you can get more people into them (warband sized encounters perhaps) and have the danger of the opposing realm creeping in. Always wished there was something along these lines in game
We are not interested in adding more PVE encounters to the game with the new RvR Pack. Anything and everything we do will be focused on RvR. Remember, we're iterating on the success of the new RvR City Siege, so any type of NPC encounter would be in that spirit.
Has a basic pricing model for the rvr packs been determined?
Will there be a discount offered for purchasing all 3 packs?
Pricing is still under discussion and has not been set in stone. The general sentiment is that yes, players purchasing all 3 parts of the RvR Pack will receive a discount.
Will there ever be a possibility of turning of the gain of experience as a part of new RVR pack? Alot russian players love t2-t3 segment and dont want to leave it.
We're not too keen on a "XP" off feature as is implemented in DAOC as we feel it stagnates development. That being said, we're investigating possible alternative solutions for folks that wish to remain in Tiers 2 and 3. We're not yet ready to discuss these ideas.
Has Mythic given any consideration to the possibility of using this new Skaven RvR zone as a potential Tier 5, so that the higher RR players will have to fight each other instead of constantly rolling lowbies that don't stand a chance?
No. The new Skaven RvR Area will not be T5.
We are investigating other possible solutions to group higher RR player in situations such as Scenarios, however ORvR will remain, as Nate called it in the last Vent Q&A, "The Wild West".
Hello,
You said you were going to sort of revamp the renow points system. Does the new system will still be based on buying caracteristic points like it is now or will we be able to buy more specials skills like resolute defense? if yes are those new skills be based on archetype?
As we've previously stated, we're seeking to remove the restrictive nature of the current RA system and instead move to something that takes inspiration from the DAOC RA system. Yes we are considering more "active abilities" being part of this redesign, however we're not quite prepared to discuss what those abilities will be. The one thing I can say about the abilities is that we intend for them to be compelling and unique, much like we want for the new armor set bonuses to be.
Can we expect other races coming with Skavens, such as Wood elves or vampire counts? (Kuwento)
Not with this RvR pack
Does all parts of the pack will be avaible at the same time? Or will we have to wait weeks/month between each of them?
AFAIK the intent is to release them all at the same time. That is subject to change.
You said you're aiming to propose this kind of packs in the futur with a faster pace. can we expect a "RvR pack" every 6 month? years? (please no "player decide", or we will all say we want one every month).
In a purely hypothetical situation, I wouldn't say that every 6-8 months is out of the question.
How soon can we expect to see the RvR Pack? A rough answer will do.
Per Carrie: Roughly, before Christmas.
To what extent is the pack aimed at < rr80 players, vs players with 1+ rr80 toons?
The RvR pack is mostly aimed at our current playerbase, regardless of the RR. There will certainly be goodies for new players and returning players will find a lot of it very rewarding, however I personally believe that the folks who have stuck with WAR through thick and thin will find there's a lot of features and cool improvements that will enhance the game.
- How is Mythic approaching the balance issue- will I need to buy the power or progression packs to remain competitive? What possible issues will the personality pack have on the economy (e.g. dye AH values)?- As part of the overall shift from a "at launch" PVP/PVE mix to a purer PVP focus, is there any chance the RVR packs will address the discrepancies in desirability between end-game PVE and PVP sets (e.g. Darkpromise/Tyrant vs Invader/Warlord for BW/Sorc), either through revamps of the lower sets or implementing token systems for the dungeons?- Do the RVR packs correspond to patch 1.4? Should we expect any 1.3.X patches before 1.4 and/or the RVR pack, and if so what is their estimated schedule and focus?
Everything about the RvR Pack has a RvR Focus, so there's no risk of new PVE sets making an impact. There will certainly be strong incentive to purchase the RvR Pack, all three parts of it, however the intent is not to make it so overwhelming, especially in the lower tiers, that someone who choses note to immediately make a purchase will be "left in the dust". That being said, for higher RR players, the RvR packs will be very desirable.
hello andy,
do you have plans about housing or new crafts in this pack ?
No to housing. I think I can safely state that housing will never be considered for WAR.
As to the other stuff...
With Orvr, is there going to be a "relic" or some sort introduced which supports the realm as a whole?(ala daoc)
While we like the idea of Relics, it goes counter to our current philosophy of not introducing anything in the campaign that makes the strong side stronger. The challenge we face with implementing a "Relic" system is finding a way to introduce them without overpowering one side over the other.
Why do you guys want to slow the campaign down?
(I can understand slowing the gear progression down)
City Sieges happen too quickly, ORvR progresses too fast. We wish to slow this down to provide a more engaging and immersive ORvR experience.
With these rvr packs, will we be able to make some kind of income if we only do rvr? As it is now leveling through T1 - T4 rvr only, I can barely make enough money to keep going to all of the different zones. In fact, I often have to get a loan from my high RR guy.
This is going to be a vague answer:
There are things slated to be introduced in the RvR pack which are designed to have a secondary effect of improving the in game economy and giving those who like to play the market something to do.
Do you plan to add server overlapping scenarios? With some balance considerations? (3-5 Healers/Tanks/DDs per Side (in case of random groups), both side got around the same RR and so on)
We are very interested in a cross server Scenario queue, however that feature isn't planned for the RvR Pack. We will be investigating other matchmaking possibilities, however nothing we can comment on at this time.
Do you have any plans about a arena or duelling system?
Not at this time
I assume there will be a PVE Pack after the PVP Pack. Do we have to wait around another year till we get new PVE content(hopefulle not with 5 Bugs a boss!!!)?
I wouldn't assume that. We're not interested in adding anything to the game that doesn't have a strong RvR focus.
Are you planing with the new rvr packs to add new mounts maybe flying?
We like mounts...
