Gencon Quick Impressions
Okay, had a little sleep after driving 7 hours back home from Gencon. I hung out at the booth for nearly 5 hours exploring WAR and got several hours worth of video to edit up. However, I wanted to give some quick impressions.
Todays word is: potential. A lot of potential. The best part is I had fun. Despite being in development still, the minor bugs, etc, the game ran great on the little laptops. Not only that but I had fun playing it. Anyway, I'm off to edit some video.

Gencon Quick Impressions
Okay, had a little sleep after driving 7 hours back home from Gencon. I hung out at the booth for nearly 5 hours exploring WAR and got several hours worth of video to edit up. However, I wanted to give some quick impressions.
- Quests. The first introductory quests do a good job propelling you into the WAR. I'll go into detail later, however the story is fun. More importantly the gameplay was fun. Starting out was easy and served as a good introduction into the game.
- For all the attention the head developers like receive, the content developers and quest developers were the most interesting to talk with.
- PvP and opposing characters standing next to each other in a PvE area. One of the concerns I had read about and had myself, was what was to prevent an Orc from passing through a PvP area into the PvE area of a Dwarf and once his timer ran out, became unkillable. Could he just taunt the Dwarfs in their own PvE area? Well the answer is very unlikely. After playing out many of the areas, I found this prospect to be unlikely. So relax.
- Dance emotes - Don't count your chickens before they hatch.
- Character abilities. The abilities were straight forward easy to get a handle on.
- PvP. In PvP with the diverse terrain of many of the areas, prepare to start using your Z axis. With some of the terrain consisting of ledges, rock outcroppings etc. I was surprised to see an Engineer perched atop one rock ledge, firing on the Orc fighters below whom were engaged with a Hammerer.
- Video. Most of the video you'll see won't be of a whole lot of combat. Since the abilities and combat is largely being tested, I took the opportunity to explore. So finally we'll have some video to go along with the screenshots.
- More, more, more. I'll write up some proper impressions later.
Todays word is: potential. A lot of potential. The best part is I had fun. Despite being in development still, the minor bugs, etc, the game ran great on the little laptops. Not only that but I had fun playing it. Anyway, I'm off to edit some video.
