Hello,
Shananigans gave me an idea. This is a small (ok maybe not small) summary of who hates/likes who in the Warhammer/W.A.R IP and why. It is intended for MMORPG Roleplayers who have limited knowledge of the Warhammer IP. It is intended to give you all the right frame of mind to play your race. This little summary will save you ALOT of reading, searching and head scratching. I have been following the game for over a decade and have every 5th edition Army Book (They contain all the history and information you could possibly want on any one race). Oh and yes, I do have a life. I just don't have one at work while I supervise one security guard in an empty casino during the graveyard shift!
Warhammer High Elves
Who: The Empire. The High Elves, an arrogant race, consider Men of the Empire to be children. The High Elves also, however, consider them to be valuable allies.
Why: Although a young, rash and undisciplined realm (according to the High Elves) , The Empire acts as a buffer against the numberless hordes of Chaos. If the Empire ever fell to the forces of Darkness, there is no way the High Elves could fight both Chaos and the Dark Elves simultaneously; Ulthuan would inevitably be overrun. It is this reason that the High Elves are concerned with the Empire's existence, to the point of sharing knowledge of their lesser magic with the humans.
Who: Dwarfs. The High Elves, although disdainful of Dwarfs, know them (as former enemies) to be grim, tough and stubborn warriors, and will support them as allies on the field of battle.
Why: High Elves harbour nowhere near the amount of animosity that the Dwarfs hold for them. High Elves are generally not a grudge-harbouring, vengeance-seeking race like the Dwarfs. They are as arrogant as ever, but see no reason not to side with Dwarfs on matters involving Orcs, Chaos or other common threats. The only real point of bitterness that is still very strong is the fact that the Dwarfs, centuries later, still hold the original Pheonix Crown in the vault of their capital city as recompense for the so called "treachery" of the Elves. Naturally, the High Elves would like their most prized artifact and heirloom back, but know that to do so they would have to siege the great Dwarf capital of Karaz-a-Karak, deemed the most unassailable fortress in the Warhammer World.
Who: The Dark Elves. The High Elve's principal foe. It is ironic that this ancient race shares its own blood with its greatest enemy; for High Elves and Dark Elves are of the same kin, land and heritage. That being said, it is difficult to find two more hated enemies.
Why: Fifty pages could be written about the ongoing civil war between the two Elf nations. It is a true civil war in every respect, only that it is now being waged over two continents and an entire ocean. It is a massive, long civil war that incorporates: bitterness, hate, jealousy, regal ambition, persecution, assasination, occultism, war, deceit, kin feuds, Dark and High magic and great tradgedy. Particluarily sad is how the great High Elf King Caledor the Conqueror met his end during this horrible conflict. Needless to say, a battle between the High and Dark Elves is an extremely violent and emotional affair. No quarter is given and the hatred exhibited on the battlefield borders on madness.
Who: Orcs. Greenskins, a barbaric and unpredictable race, are loathed by the High Elves who find them simply disgusting and undeserving of life.
Why: Orcs can be considered the exact opposite of Elves. Large, brutish, clumsy and foul, their very existence is an offence to High Elf beauty. Goblins and Orcs sometimes raid Ulthuan, and are a constant plague to Elven allies across the ocean in the Old World.
Who: Chaos. Being a civilized race, the High Elves will not hesitate for a moment to seek and destroy Chaos wherever it is found.
Why: High Elves are, and always have been, instrumental in the struggle against Chaos. It was High Elf High magic that stemmed the original influx of raw Chaos energy that assaulted the world millenia ago. Had that not happened, the world would be a darker place than it already is. High Elf fleets, the finest in existence, wage constant sea battles with Chaos Norscan Longships. From these Elven fleets deploy the famed and feared Lothern Sea Guard. Masters of sail, spear and bow, they act as instant allies to those in need anywhere at anytime. Many Chaos marauders have fallen to the wrath of the Sea Guard.
All this information comes from Games Workshop's Warhhammer 5th edition Army Books and is 100% their material, it is all just written in my words.

High Elves
Ancient and Magical
The High Elves are an ancient race, proud and elegant. These masters of the bow and sword reside in the island nation of Ulthuan. While few in number, they are a highly-trained, elite force, known for striking the enemy swiftly and devastatingly with magical power and missile fire.
Most of the High Elven army consists of archers and spearmen. They also have core units such as the Lothern Sea Guard who wield swords, bows, and spears, and the Silver Helms, who ride quick Elven steeds. They have special units as well, such as the Phoenix Guard who wield halberds in battle.
The High Elves, while highly trained and masters of their talents, have their greatest weakness in the small number of their forces and their light armor. Yet in the hands of a great strategist, the High Elven force is a deadly one.
