Hello,
Shananigans gave me an idea. This is a small (ok maybe not small) summary of who hates/likes who in the Warhammer/W.A.R IP and why. It is intended for MMORPG Roleplayers who have limited knowledge of the Warhammer IP. It is intended to give you all the right frame of mind to play your race. This little summary will save you ALOT of reading, searching and head scratching. I have been following the game for over a decade and have every 5th edition Army Book (They contain all the history and information you could possibly want on any one race). Oh and yes, I do have a life. I just don't have one at work while I supervise one security guard in an empty casino during the graveyard shift! wink
Warhammer Dwarfs
Who: Dwarfs love the Empire and although there are small skirmishes between indivudual Empire Lords and Dwarf clans, the Empire and Dwarfs are the most solid and close alliance in the whole Warhammer World.
Why: The very first Emperor, the Almighty Sigmar, saved the then reigning Dwarf High King from certain death by his Orc captors. Since then the Dwarfs have pledged eternal grattitude to the Men of the Empire.
Who: High Elves. There is an old Dwarf saying: "There is nothing as sure in the world as the glitter of gold, and the treachery of Elves." Dwarfs distrust Elves of any kind and will only fight next to them in the most dire circumstances. And even when they do, they are always looking over their shoulders.
Why: In ancient times, Dark Elves disgusied as High Elves slaughtered Dwarf caravans. The Dwarfs sent their ambassador to Ulthuan to demand apology...the High Elves shaved off his beard and sent him back. One of the longest and bloodiest wars in Old World history was fought: The War of the Beard. In the end it was a draw, although the Dwarf High King slew the Elven Pheonix King in a duel and took the Pheonix Crown from his head.
Who: Dark Elves. To a Dwarf, an Elf is an Elf is an Elf. Wise Dwarfs know the difference, but the bulk of Dwarfs would come to blows with any of them.
Why: See High Elves
EDIT: Seldaren's added notes: And here's one thing that folks new to Warhammer may not realize, there is no real physical difference between a Dark Elf and a High Elf. No black or purple or dark skin like you'll see in other games.
They dress different obviously, but if a Dark Elf were to dress up like a High Elf non-Elves wouldn't be able to tell the difference (hence the War of the Beard).
- Seldaren : END EDIT
Who: Orcs. Dwarfs HATE Greenskins like no other. They will fight to the last Dwarf against them. Dwarfs love Elves when compared to their hatred for Orcs.
Why: More than any one race, Orcs are the greatest cause for the destruction of the once great Dwarf Kingdom.
Who: Chaos. Known by the Dwarfs as the Ruinous Powers, Chaos was one of the first enemies of the Dwarfs and one of the only foes they will ally with Elves to fight.
Why: Chaos are the enemies of all civilized races, and the Dwarfs know this well.
I suppose I'll stop here incase the flames come or this isn't helpful. If you MMORPG RP'ers want more please leave feedback. All this information comes from Games Workshop's Warhhammer 5th edition Army Books and is 100% their material. Except for the Dwarf quote it is all just written in my words.

Stout and Disciplined
The Dwarf race is a dying one, as their way of life becomes extinct. They can be described as short, bearded, and sturdy in appearance. Deeply set in their traditions and the trades of their ancestors, they are expert craftsmen. They seek to retake the mountains that have been captured from them and reclaim their glory as a powerful nation.
Dwarf regiments include Warriors, Hammerers, Longbeards, Ironbreakers, and Slayers. They fight together in family units known as clans. Unlike other races, they do not fight using magic. Instead, their magical abilities are channeled into runes used to increase the powers of their weapons and armor.
Dwarfs have long been known for the strength of their forces, and their tough infantry. They have developed many kinds of artillery to use against their enemies, including cannons, bolt throwers, organ guns, flame cannons, etc.
Overall, the Dwarfs are a strong and stout army, their only weaknesses being their slowness and lack of numbers.
