Race Relations in the Warhammer World
This is a summary of how the Warhammer races relate to one another. This first part deals with Dwarfs and the second the Empire, other races will be covered in the future.
-Written by Jesse, aka Jesswar
Part 4: Dark Elves
Who: The Empire. Simply put, the Dark Elves are enemies of the Empire and all men.
Why: All Elves are known for their arrogance. Dark Elves, however, make their other cousins seem humble. To the Dark Elves all races are below them, to the point of being insignificant...especially the upstart realms of men. To a Dark Elf a human can only be of two uses: for slavery or sacrifice. The Empire coastlands provide many slaves and sacrificial victims for the altars of Khaine.
Who: Dwarfs. The Dark Elves are enemies of the Dwarfs and battles between them are welcomed by both races.
Why: Dark Elves are enemies of the Dwarfs because they are Elves. Not only are they Elves (which to a Dwarf, is reason enough to deserve a sound thrashing) but they are also extremely evil. It could be argued that the image of the Dark Elf is how Dwarfs generally see all Elves. Dark Elves are very sinister and highly treacherous. This indeed fits the Dwarf concept of Elves ever since the War of the Beard. Dark Elves are primarliy responsible for the centuries of animosity between the Dwarfs and High Elves. The Dark Elves fear that the Dwarfs could potentially be a strong ally to the High Elves (as they once were). For this reason the Dark Elves work to sew dissention and hatred between Dwarfs and all Elves, for the less allies Ulthuan has, the more vulnerable it is to attack.
Who: The High Elves. The Dark Elves utterly HATE the High Elves; there is no other word. They are both of the same blood, yet they will spill it with no hesitation whatsoever.
Why: There is so much bitterness, jealousy and hatred in the Dark Elves that it is difficult to put into words. To be captured by a Dark Elf is a fate worse than death. To be a High Elf captured by a Dark Elf is a fate of unspeakable horror and no worse doom exists in the Warhammer World. It is for this reason that the great High Elf King Caledor the Conqueror, when his ship was set aflame and surrounded by Dark Elf Reavers, threw himself into the ocean in full armour. One of the greatest High Elf kings of all time gave himself to the sea, rather than be taken back to Naggaroth, the Land of Chill. Every breath of the Dark Elf Witch King is spent on his plan to destroy Ulthuan and then re-make it in his own image. The Dark Elves are exiled outcasts, and their hatred towards their kin has no limits. Battles between these two brother races are so violent and emotional that no real comparison in Warhammer history can be found.
Who: Orcs. Please see Mythic's Warhammer MMO Newsletter - January 2006 Issue
Why: See above.
Who: Chaos. The Dark Elves have a curious relationship with Chaos.
Why: Many Dark Elves worship the Chaos god Slaanesh as a form of cult, while the Chaos god of war Khorne, and the Elven god of Murder Khaine, share many similarities. During the last great Chaos Invasion into the Old World, Daemons of Slaanesh were occasionally seen in Dark Elf armies. On the other hand, the land of the Dark Elves borders the Chaos Wastes and the two realms are constantly engaged in border skirmishes. The northern guard towers of Naggaroth are under constant siege from Chaos Marauders and much of the Dark Elf patrol forces are kept occupied by this constant menace.
All this information comes from Games Workshop's Warhhammer 5th edition Army Books and is 100% their material, it is all just written in my words.

Dark Elves
An Elite Force
The Dark Elf race resides in Naggaroth, known as the Land of Chill, far to the north. A versatile army, they have many types of special forces at their disposal, Frenzied Witch Elves, Cold One Knights, and Repeater Bolt Throwers, to name a few. The Dark Elf force is swift, and highly skilled at fighting.
Dark Elves have many choices for strong leadership of their forces, including nobles, sorceresses and beastmasters. They also bring deadly hydras, corsairs, black dragons, and more. The Dark Elves wield an artifact known as the Cauldron of Blood, which can restore the youth and vitality of the Brides of Khaine who bathe in it, and all Dark Elf troops in the vacinity of the cauldron benefit from its effects.
Altogether the Dark Elves are a formidable army, yet they must use their forces with care and precision to triumph.
