Was this about the revamped talent trees? I think Sarc and Raim at Lagwar were talking about this. It doesn't really affect me as I'll never be going back to this game, but it could really ruin(or possibly make) the day of anyone that does still play, or was thinking about it.
Who is like the Beast? Who is able to make War with Him?

not sure if it's the same thing they've talked about....is there iTunes thing still broke, I haven't seen a new episode from them in forever.
anywho,
I think it'll really piss those people off who use an oddball spec, but overall I don't see it changing much other than helping define your role from an earlier stage. BUT I've never played the end game, so I may not be the person to weigh opinions on the matter.

I like the move. It will give Blizzard a bit more freedom to be creative in the subclasses. For example, currently if they wanted to add or tweak an ability, they had to consider the balance across the different specs and/or place it low enough in the tree that it was unattainable to lower level players. Now they can add an ability while testing it in a more limited scope.
My only worry is homogenization of classes, but with cookie cutter builds being the norm in these games, I don't think it's as much of an issue as it may be made out to be.

Most of what they are changing are points that "everyone got no matter what", so it wasn't really a matter of customization because you ALWAYS got them. Now you'll just have them. /shrug
Its not really easy to discern one way or the other, like SW:TORs space-combat, its a wait and see for me.

I'm in the wait and see boat as well, but I'm more curious to see how they deal with ability resources like mana and whatnot. Some classes are changing from mana to focus, like hunters, and some classes are having their systems just changed completely. DKs, for example, which normally use a rune and wait for it to recharge with 6 available runes of 3 types. However, currently in beta it seems that they've stacked the runes so that if you were to blow all your runes, one of each type would recharge at a time and upon completion of the first the second would start to recharge. Possibly extremely limiting.
Also, they've stated that healers will start needing to worry about running OOM again and made it so that cleanses use the caster's mana regardless of whether they remove a debuff... so, does that mean Blizz will stop designing encounters where it's necessary to have healers spamming heals and cleanses?
Wait and see.

Yeah, I remember having to burn through tons of potions every raid. Spam heals on the tanks, chug mana potions whenever the cooldown hit, whether i need it then or not, just in case, spam status ailment removals, rinse and repeat, get yelled at whenever the tanks hp dropped below 75%, etc.
Weren't hunters using a Focus bar in the initial version of the game anyway? I know most of the people that play now did not play it then, so that may be why they're so scared. I can imagine that the thought of actually having to put some thought into playing a hunter might be terrifying, as it hasn't happened before...muwahahaha! Serious, no, I love you huntards and how you love to steal aggro from the tanks and get one-shot. Really, it always brightened up my day. Especially since the raid leader always told them I was assigned to the main tank and wouldn't be healing them at all. Fun times.
One goes, we all go!

What I am most pleased about with the new spec/talent changes is that you get extra benefits for specc'ing deep into a tree. Also making a lot more abilities baseline is a good idea, especially if it is something that every player chose. Also totally revamping the regen stat for mana users = lame. Making spirit good for all casters (yes you too pallies) = lame to me. What made the classes work right now is that certain builds used mp/5 over spirit or crit. Now when a ring with spirit drops or a cloak or w/e that all classes can use EVERY single caster will want it if its an upgrade, not just for the spirit using priest/druid.
I am still waiting to see what more of the new spells/talents/specializations will be to really have a solid opinion whether to buy or not, especially after the battle.net fiasco with emails.

One thing I didn't notice about the article is, will they still have the dual spec system? My main build for WotLK was Discipline Priest, however thru repeated heroics and Naxx/Archavon runs I got myself a second set of cloth that I enchanted/socketed for DPS and was a rockin' Shadow Priest for the last few weeks of my sub before I left to join CoT in WAR. Dual spec is one of the few things I liked about WotLK and losing it for Cataclysm would take me from 10% likely to buy it, to 0%

I'd be shocked if dual spec ever went away because they've done so much work trying to make the majority of classes into viable hybrids.
I'd be less surprised to see them try to make everyone into viable hybrids by attempting to allow rogues to tank or some such nonsense as that.
And Ken, it's not that hunters are scared of the change, most of them welcome it because it takes them from a resource that is easy to dump lots of abilities from early and then can run out to an ever renewing resource. It's people who play classes like DKs that are worried because their ever renewing resource is all of a sudden renewing half as quickly.

I remember having one of the highest mp/5 mana regeneration rates, and only needing to roll against resto druids and other holy priests when one of those rings finally dropped. As I've said before, I really enjoyed all the in-game mechanics and aspects of the game, other than the terrible excuse for a community. After my guild collapsed from under me, again, I was pretty much done. I hope you that still play it can find some worthwhile content in the new expansion though! Eels up inside ya, findin' an entrance where they can...

I always liked my hunter best. Especially the training pets part. I loved to show up to a fight with oddball pets.
