I did no know about this, but apparently if you are moving while fighting, you get buffs/debuffs. E.g. moving forward gives attack buff, strafing gives evade, backwards gives block (or something like that). Interesting stuff.

Ta da: powerwiki.na.aiononline.com/aion/Combat#hd50496Forward: +10% Physical Damage +10% Magic Damage -20% Physical Defense -20% Magic Damage (this is probably a typo) Backwards: +500% to Parry +500% to Block -70% Physical Damage -40% Movement Speed Strafing: +300% to Evasion -70% Physical Damage -20% Movement Speed And if you go to the link, you'll see the arrows that show up by your feet when you are getting the effects. Moral of the story, attackers should move up, defenders should move back, and circle strafers will suck. Unless they are trying to avoid dying to a chain attack or something.

Yeah, it's just something to make combat a bit more interesting. So not only can you get some combo chains going, you can also do a little movement and make it matter. It's not as involved as Spellbourne's combat was(is, still, I guess), but it's still a nice touch. Of course, this also means that if you don't move at all and just stand there, you get no bonuses, and no penalties. Whee.
None of these affect distance attacks, as most spells require you to stay still. Ah well, these are the breaks.
i am more than serious. i am... compelled.

I've read the opposite. Supposedly they affect everything, just have to get the ability off when you have the buff.
Some of the longer cast stuff might not get it, but it's also probably really high damage anyway. It's kind of a nice balancing feature, I think, and one I've noticed that will play into the game as well. I've seen rangers kiting backwards and they do noticeably less damage than those who jumpshot, so to speak.
