OH.......SNAP I just did the math for the servers/channels... (400,000/12)/10=3333 3k+ per channel? Okay, maybe not when you consider that they won't all be on at the same time. But if it goes through the same type of post launch growth that WAR did then I would expect to see 750k+ people playing by the end of the month which makes the likelyhood of around 3k people on at one channel at a time become an inevitablilty. Prepare for launch problems and new servers...

That is crazy. I had kind of hoped that it launched semi-quietly, so that it doesn't get a bunch of negative press when the numbers drop as the tourists leave.

its better to have to have to launch more servers than having to merge servers right outta the gate. I dont think aion would be as affected by the "too many" server situation like WAR since this isnt a PvP game until at least half way through. If they duplicate WoW's launch with having servers go down and too many people interested, tis a better PR stunt than what happened with WAR.

Mmm I'd disagree with WoW having a better PR stunt. Mythic was just over prepared, Blizzard had it simply chalked up to their inexperience with MMOs.

Fair, it wasnt premeditated in WoW's case. But planning aside, the effect on the community has been positive when there are too few servers as compared to the effect when there are too many.

Very true.
May be a laggy couple of days, but I think it'll pass quickly.
