RumorsHonestly, the announcement of level cap raise is about the worst thing they could have done from my point of view. I hate the idea of raising level caps as a way to increase content. Increased levels only means a longer middle game, and I want to enjoy end game only. Especially considering the grindy nature of Aion as it is. They have a great game on their hands, apparently NCSoft doesn't know how to handle it. There's a lot of cool additions in this, but raising the level cap to me is just hitting the easy button, and in my sincerest opinion it's the worst way to expand content. /steam. I'm so pissed about this. Aion is a beautiful game that runs great. They need only like 3 minor fixes and 1 major and it'd be the best game on the market. F***ing Bull****

Still not caring! =D
Edit: Animosity towards NCSoft = High, I don't blame Aion for it being what it is.

Yeah, I think some of the gang at Ars Diavoli were talking about that the other day. I don't think it will really matter, they really need to fix some more problems first. The gold spammers are still around, so are the botters, though they're not as bad as once they were. Sometimes I don't see any is what I mean.
But the cheating and hacks are getting pretty bad, especially on Triniel. Apparently the top two Asmodaean Legions, Flawless and Corvus, are using hacks universally. Speed hacks so that they can get away from anyone, and no one can escape them; even with full speed boosting items like potions and scrolls boosting running and flight speed. They also have map hacks that let them see where every single damn enemy player is on the map at any time. There's also a stelath hack, so that they can see any assassins in stealth. Add to that the fact that the top Elyos guild, SunShine, is apparently on great terms with them, to the point of arranging schedules to trade Abyss Points, and there is no point in even attempting any pvp. Yay!
fooking flying rats. where's a psychopathic, bloodthirsty clown when you really need one?

being a pvp player myself i know this feeling all too well
marchutan server - top asmodian (1%) and top elyos (last resort) legions know each other
as in the legion leaders are cousins, thats how well they know each other!!!
they have been trading points back and forth for awhile, where as the rest of the server top end is fending for themselves.
2 of the latest cases which really got me frustrated -
1. a member of neither legion was closing in on rank 3 - he was in dark poeta and was spammed for tells about his location, being he was pretty popular and always pvping - no biggie right? WRONG!! He was being targeted specifically so when he was in a location that was not an instance, the elyos who were friendly with the 1% legion could assassinate him, he stepped out into the abyss and they had a alliance (raid) waiting for him - he ran they chased him down and rinsed and repeated this for an entire evening til he chose not to go into a pvp zone. then to top this off they publicly mutually agreed on the server forums they were both working together to get this done
2. aion has "random" world bosses - named bosses that drop great loot, any raiding/hardcore pvp group knows these exist in various games and focus on them til they have their loot for their group. In this particular case, it was a level 50 world boss in the abyss that dropped gold (their version of epics) items that were pretty good. My legion and 1% were supposed to roll off on who got the kill because both sides had a considerable group there, large enough either group could take him down solo. the deal was one legion would get the kill the other would keep those pesky pigeons (cough cough sorry, meant to say elyos) off the other legions back long enough to get the kill. In this case 1% lost the roll, asked 3 times for another roll. then called in their hit squad (last resort) to come kill not only our legion kisk (item you can rez at if you die), but to target our tank and healers specific. we half wiped on the boss, thankfully a couple of our healers had locked onto another kisk from earlier and were able to rez a bunch of us, which we went into defensive mode and fended the elyos off long enough to rez our full force.
during this entire time 1% stood by and not only directed the elyos to our kisk but also trained the world boss on top of our remaining force that the elyos had not wiped out, making them now caught in his aoe and vunerable to elyos attack.
after this attack our legion leader was specifically killed several times as well as our legion kisk was yet again destroyed, after many attempts to hide it and re-attempt the boss again.
this whole thing took most of the evening a good 3-4 hours and at the end the world boss was ninja'd out from under us by 1% while we were defending our own, by this time word had gotten out there were large scale battle pvp in the core and many other legions had shown up to join.
aion being a pvpve game at the core of it - yea the opposing force of the opposite faction was expected. the opposing force of your same faction trying to cut your throat in the process, not only demoralizes you but also your faction on the server.
funny enough alot of the players in the 1% legion did admit to buying kinah when goldsellers were selling it before the mass ban and were able to max out their tradeskills and get their fenrils armor set (level 50 gold set). did i see ncsoft banning them? no. will i see them get banned even after admitting in public they were trading ap and in communication with the opposite faction? no.
will this problem continue in mmo's with multiple factions? yes
happened in wow, war and several other mmo's that are pvp related just so people can cheat their way to the top. ruins it for the legit players that work their way up the "ranks" to get to the top.
i apologize for the wall of text but i was trying to get some points across.

You deserve a medal for not spamming chat with obscenities after that shit. If I was in your position I would have just ragequit the game at that point.

if you check the fortress's on marchutan server you will also notice 1% has their tag on them - or did....
my legion leader was in communication with all the other major legions via a vent where all the legion leaders were and they all agreed to let 1% fortress's in the lower abyss fall and to not defend but also not allow the elyos to capture them either.
reason being the bigger legions still want to farm the upper abyss fortress dungeons in each of them. People still want to do the grind legit and still need to get their fenril set's - in order to do that they need the materials those higher level mobs drop. Even tho they are gritting their teeth, its still a benefit to the server.
As far as how those fortress's were taken - thats a trick we found out later, even tho we were part of taking them at the time
Seems there is a "bug" where its not the legion itself but a numbers game and damage - 2 points on this
1. i already stated 1% members had their fenrils set - these high damage people were assigned to create their own pug alliances. Leaving them as the leader of the alliance, people wanting to get involved in the pvp would join just because there was an opening.
2. The legion with the most amount of numbers and highest damage to the Deity were the ones that got the name on the fortress - so even with 1% only having 90 members max per legion, the 90 members + pug alliances were enough to not only put the most amount of damage but because the title is tied to the alliance Leader - that's the kicker part. recruit the pugs to be cannon fodder.
We learned this lesson the hard way, tested it several times and figured out that was how they did it.
As well, that still leaves artifacts and defends while assaulting - this is something that most people also forget in the larger scheme as well.
While we were doing those two items, popping artifacts if large alliances showed up or bottlenecking elyos as they were trying to get to the diety room, those pesky 1% guys and their pug alliances stayed on the diety. This of course not only helped their cause but also came to their benefit with only a 30 min opening to attack the diety once its engaged.

additionally something i forgot to mention to help with the smaller legions and overall
my legion leader also would hand out medals to legions that came to assistance or helped to secure artifacts/fortress
ncsoft would send gold/silver medals via mail to players to reward them along with a cash "bonus"
it was generally agreed it was better overall as a server to gather these legions that helped by rewarding them. it seemed to be a successful strategy for us overall because if we made a call for help people would pop out of the woodwork to help.
This has positives and negatives to it -
positive - people see you gathering something is up and generally speaking - everyone wants a bite of the pie. we would get pugs following us to see what the mass grouping was for and "try to join in on the fun"
negative - World Boss's - they have spawn timers and you have to be ready to kill them when they spawn. once someone outside your group knows of a world boss you are killing on a set pattern they will try and ninja it from you if you are 3 secs too late. This did happen and we noted the time and were ready when the next spawn rotation came up. Thankfully the other group did not note the time on it
Even with stating all of this - i am by far stating i am not an ELITIST by any means and i personally do not like them. In a game such as Aion you need to use every advantage being gear, timing or mass organization when it comes to near the end game. Competition for top dog in mmo's will always be there and someone will always be barking at your heels. In my legions case we just handle it calmly and bite back when its needed but also realize we need the factions entire help if and when it comes down to end game.

Well that's interesting, to be sure. I had heard that some servers had a much better community than ours on Triniel, apparently some are just as bad. We've got the high end groups trying to keep legions on their own side down, sure. It seems the Asmodaeans on Triniel do the same. While the whole AP trading bits may be just rumors, there's certainly a lot of bullshit going on. I'm not a fan.
put that in your pipe and smoke it
