I got to play them both, and I can safely say that I didn't like the Asmodian look/feel. Mostly it was the hunched over, wolfman running style. Also, for hard-nosed, quasi-evil, bad ass mofo, survival of the fittest vampires, why was I picking flowers for the guy who was afraid to ask the girl out? It was a real Twilight moment. And the world seemed pretty much as bright and shiney as the other side. I was hoping for more of an EQ Neriak feel with slave wenches and prisoners doing the scud work.
On the other hand, as an Elyos, I was a mercenary who did the right thing. And I stood up straight. Better posture than real life. I liked the look of the world and didn't find it to be too over the top goody goody. Granted I only got to level 10, but hey.

I agree.
I really enjoyed the environment 110% more on Elyos than on Asmodian.
Then again I was playing with CoT 80% of the time on Elyos...I had forgotten how much fun it was to play with you guys XD.
I liked the way my Asmo ranger ran with his melee weapons out, but other than that not really. And Winin, I thought the exact same thing when I saw that quest. WHY am I helping this pansey out, wouldn't a true Asmodian take the flowers to the girl and claim them from himself?
Guess it depends if she was hot...

I agree with you guys. I didn't play Asmodian very long at all. But I did dislike the posture and run style. Yeah, it's all aesthetics. But it is also the same reason I would never play an undead in WoW and really hated the zealot in WAR. Either I'm that superficial, or all those years of my dad telling me to sit up straight really sunk in.
And yeah, playing with CoT is the main thing. I forgot how much I missed our serious gaming nights. Y'all crazy.

Played the Amodian scout and the Elyos scout, and it seemed the Asmo scout had better emotes and little nuances such as occasionally pulling a front flip when it jumped. The Elyos scout did none of that and the /cheer emote caused him to break out some pom poms and well, its just to embarrasin to talk about it. I hope to play both sides depending on my mood.

Yeah, the pom poms were lame. I won't be cheering anyone. I'll need a new thing.

Come on admit it, how many of you don't actually mind the claws and back hair at all... but REALLY hate the Asmo battle music Chuggity chug-chug, cha-chug-chug-chug Even I had to finally kill the battle music this weekend and just let the background music keep playing when I entered combat Still voting Asmo because I can, and because crappy metal still > pom poms See you in a few weeks on my Elyos alt

I need to try out Elyos before I can say either way, but so far I'm sure they will be better. I think the issue with the Asmodians is they have an identity crisis. They are similar to the Orcs in Warcraft. Are you evil? Just evil by force/someone else's will? When you read the lore the Asmodians kinda come off as the crap end of the stick red headed step children who grew tough from lack of sunlight and harsh climates. Claws, back hair (even the women) and nasty attitudes. But the in game story tries to paint them as normal humans who are coping and trying to make a life for themselves while being harassed by their "sun cursed" cousins. (I love that term) And then again it makes a big 360 once you leave the 1-10 areas and you read stories where Asmos raided and killed whole towns, women and children included, start abusing the Mau people and enjoy subterfuge and trickery to win the day. So are you emo? Or evil? Or misunderstood? Since you have no choice in the matter it should have been pretty easy to steer you in the right direction. Even the cutscenes almost paint you as a pathetic wretch who's future demise has been preordained and this whole questline is to try and prevent that. So you start out knowing your a loser? I mean it was cool at first, but half your people are bloodythirsty savages, while the other half want to marry, have kids, and make macrame. It's annoying and really makes the Asmos feel like whiners with a bad attitude. The orcs from Warhammer were probably my favorite villains until Warcraft 3 and they did the same thing. Now they are all squishy and shamanistic, but wait still kinda bloodthirsty, and then roll to WOW. At least they had an excuse that demons were pushing their buttons. Asmos are like that with no real drive in either direction. They want you to feel bad for them and give them emo love, but they also want to be badass killers in black suits of death armor destroying cities and eating babies with pitchforks. So I'm gonna be trying Elyos on the C Aion servers till open lol. Anyways, I've got enough damn back hair as it is.

I need to try out Elyos before I can say either way, but so far I'm sure they will be better. Some of the Elyos NPCs are just as unlikable as Asmos, like their one questgiver who says "those fluffy things over there are totally ruining my view of this lovely lake, please kill them" I've said it before and I'll say it again, Asmos are not evil. It's not an identity crisis or anything else. No need to compare them to Destro in WAR or the Horde in WoW, it's not even close. The only truly "evil" faction in Aion is the Balaur, and they're not playable. Anyway I know this isn't going to change anyone's mind as to their decision, and feel free to keep hating on Asmo claws/back hair/funny walks I find them a bit peculiar myself, which is one reason I'll be rolling an Elyos alt.

Oh know I know they aren't evil. Until we find out what happened in that chamber from the sounds of it they are more the good side than the Elyos. It's just the storyline itself doesn't stick to one specific trend as to their dispositions. I see them myself sorrowful warriors who hide souls in pain under a rough exterior. Even the Balaur aren't truly evil. They are jealous and angry at losing their place in the world. I mean, they were going to sign the peace treaty. It's just a bunch of misunderstandings and there really isn't an "evil" per se since all the races have committed many atrocities for their causes. I think the story has alot of potential. Wow and War both did, but neither game captured it well. and horde in Wow weren't evil, they were the good guys. The alliance were the evil ones. I always found that humorous. Destruction in WAR was way more evil, but even they had explanations for their madness and really if you looked at it, Order was a different kind of evil. All great stories (though the whole wow=war thing comes up). Aion's story has a lot of room to grow. Perhaps we will see a 3rd race for a further expac if Balaur become playable, then it would be DAOC all over again. But with wings! (and way less classes lol)

I feel like elyos and asmods are the same but something happen a betrayal or something i cannot say word for word im just thinking about it that maybe a higher up elyos wanted to rid of an elyos that was a threat to his ranking and sent that elyos's legion into a trap closing the gates behind them by seperating the world into 2 keeping it in complete secrecy . Without the luxury they grew up on the betrayed elyos were forced to adapt to the world they had and over time the hate grew and many memories forgotten leaving the elyos that were forced to evolve thru hate starvation and will to survive to eventually breed and change ultimately becoming asmods making elyos ancestors to the asmods which are elyos that had to evolve and go through changes because life was ultimately different and much harder for them. This also would make sense for the younger and unaware elyos's believing that the asmods are evil entirely and not knowing that the asmods are theyre brothren and are just wanting revenge on theyre king for a justified purpose because theyre leader that did the shameful act would never admit to making him the cause of war and the birth of the asmods aka the elyos legion he thought would of died out
I can get lost in my thoughts xd
