Keiner posted something about getting back his Asmodian toon for this weekends beta (which will be the last) What's everyone think about doing Asmodians this weekend so that when we roll Elyos next month, it will be a somewhat new experience?

I think we need to put a large amount more time and thought into rolling with other guilds that we know/like/think are okay people in small doses.
Honestly, the differences in race are largely cosmetic, but who we can directly play with will make a large difference.
See how many times I used the word large? I'm largely awesome.
Edit: i r teh gud att English.

I agree. I have nothing invested in terms of race/realm whatever. I'm playing this game to play with my friends. So in the end, I think we will all have more fun if we roll whatever and wherever most of our friends are playing. I'm still thinking this game could possibly end up being the awesome sauce. Why? Because nobody is expecting anything from it.

I think we need to put a large amount more time and thought into rolling with other guilds that we know/like/think are okay people in small doses. Especially since the latest chatter on WHA indicates no official RP server on launch day. Linking onward from there, the unofficial RP server debate has begun on a new fansite, aionroleplayers.com. I've registered as Melchior and added my name to the (currently heavily Asmodian) list of WAR "RP server refugees".

That's interesting. I've always found that the best RP actually ends up on the games with the "unofficial" RP servers. Not that I'm into RP so much. But in CoH and LotRO, there was not an official RP server. So the community decided on one and the server really was the better for it.

I am in the camp of who cares what side we play, as long as we find friends to do it with.

I would rather play some of Elyos this weekend, as I can get a preview of what the side I want to play on will be like, and if my purchase of this game is justified (which I envision it will be).

It's very true what Lyris said, the difference between the sides is cosmetic, the only real "make-or-break" factor is if we can find a group of people we can stand.
Perfect example: In WAR we started out with Blagtoof and such, and had a great time, yet when we went our separate ways in game we couldn't really play Destro by ourselves, and the community there was not compatible with us. We went and hung with CotNS and had a blast. I dunno, I figure if we can find like minded people to hang with it won't matter what side we play as.
And as Maeve said, I have no ties to any particular side in the first place. ;D

I dont care what side we end up playing on as long as the majority is playing together. I will probably try both out this weekend just to see which i like the best. I know the only real difference is appearance but would still like to see. I think the majority wants to play with people that we are "compatible" with, and i agree. We should wait and see what side Guin/CoTNS go and then make our decision.

I don't care either way, patching now.
If you aren't, I'd recommend you do. It's 6 gigs and with cable i'm downloading at only 104kb/s

Yeah, I'll do either side. More peeps trumps anything else. I wish I could log into my pc from the hotel so I could play or at least patch remotely.
