Just wanted to mention that anyone interested in checking out a multiplayer Minecraft server is welcome to drop by. The server is open to guests, you just can't place/destroy blocks. If you want to build let me know and I can add your Minecraft username to the user list. Server address is: minecraft.bluekae.com There's some maps of the server up at bluekae.com/minecraft-server/.

Do come by and build something with us! It's fun to see what creations your fellow bloggers have designed.

You need to buy the full version to do mp, right? I've only tooled around a bit in the web, free version.

Yes and no. You can run a server in offline mode, which means it doesn't require authenticated users, and would allow people who haven't paid for a copy to play. Unfortunately that would make it impossible to keep griefers out, so yes you need to buy the game to be able to play.
Only $14 though, and the price goes up once it goes into beta. ;D

The full version is awesome. In keeping with my (not so) recent string of game-ADD, I've been wasting FAR too much time playing the single player in Survival Mode. It's awesome!
My home right now is built into the side of an insanely high mountain, and I just managed to get the top of my home to the top of mountain. On a lark, I laid down some water on top and now my entire home has waterfalls streaming down it. It's baddass (and is a convenient down-only elevator)! I need to post pics sometime. I'm just about to go explore to a distant outpost so I can construct a mine-cart railroad to it. It should be awesome! ^_^ (That is, when I'm not buried under 30 feet of real life work. >.>)
Loving this game. While it does force you to use Paypal, you don't need to have a Paypal account now. Which is good, since I nuked my Paypal account ages ago.
Anyways, add me to the server please. My Minecraft ID is Vejuz.
EDIT: Is the server survival or creative, just out of curiosity?

It's survival multiplayer, but with monsters turned off since they're just annoying while there's not health system implemented.
I've added you (Vejuz) to the user list so you have build rights now.

hahaha I love it! I'd recognize that north path anywere. I traveled that one! ;D I had no idea I'd gone so far. I was waiting for a building permit ( ) so I just picked a direction and kept going. That north path is full of weird stuff BTW. I found a biome error I plan and marking once I get a suitable beginner dwelling set up. I also found a very cool series of natural islands floating in the sky. Also, when I try to enlarge the image, it says it can't be loaded due to errors. The thumbnail is visible though.

I made the northern trek as well. I traveled North for 3 days via boat. Made Wayfarer's Keep at the northern most point. But I was hunting clay and pumpkins.

OK, I broke down and got it. Any tips on what I should do first? I chopped down some trees and started hitting some rocks in a cliff face.

Are you playing multiplayer or singleplayer, and if single player, do you have monsters turned on or off?

I started with sp, default settings.
Also, can I change my login name? I didn't realize it was the same as your mp name.

In single player survival mode, you want to start collecting resources and start on a good base camp. I wouldn't get too fancy with what you start out with because you will probably want to find a better location eventually. You'll want a weapon, a sword to start and then when you have the supplies, a bow and arrow. There is a minecraft wiki that will give you crafting guides.
Once you have armor and weapons, you'll want to dig deep and get some obsidian. Then you can build a portal and start exploring the Nether. But don't build the portal too close to home. It is rather noisy.

Thanks for the info, Maeve!
I'm t6e23. I'll check out the server.
I managed to make a little cave right by my spawn point, then I found a really big natural cavern with water. I walled it off and eventually tunneled between the two. But while exploring the natural cavern, I got attacked by a spider and I'm at 1/2 a heart of health. Any way to heal up?
