Yo, listening to #31 now and I have a couple of suggestions...
1) Exit games before recording. It was funny the first few times we gave someone shit for playing instead of recording, but I think it is old and done now. The episodes where people are playing while recording, there seem to be more lulls where they are talking at the game and everyone stops to listen. Also, there seem to be more technical glitches (stuttering, crappy sound for a few seconds, etc). Maybe a bandwidth problem.
2) When a conversation goes on a while about a certain game, I lose track what game is being talked about. A lot of discussion can apply to many games, so if you don't mention the name or something distinctive (e.g. a specific class or location), it can be hard to follow. Maybe it's just me, but I find the same problem in all game podcasts. I listen while doing other things, so it is easy for me to miss the game title. Perhaps try to throw in something specific now and then, or be specific when you can (i.e. speak about actual map names vs "pvp", "zealot" vs "healer",
Just some thoughts.

1. Yeah, games should really be exited from before we start, but if anything, it spawned conversation about Starcraft 2 in a way that was more interesting than if he just mentioning it in his "whatcha playin week" and I for one would rather listen to something that seems spontaneous than hear us talk about the same things in the same order every time, it's what makes me lose interest in most gaming podcasts. If anything, the host should be to blame for not still being able to move the conversation along even with people dicking around.
2. Podcasts are like your spouse, you're either listening to them or your not. Except you can rewind the podcast.
Seriously though, going along with what I said above, we have a very tangential podcast. Some view that as a strength, some a weakness. We'll never be as professional sounding as, say, Gamer's With Jobs. But, even with as well done and informative as their show is, I lose interest in some of their conversations in almost every show because they go on and on and on. Our ADD is what makes the show fun to listen to. (at least for me) As far as mentioning specifics, I think that's a great idea, but I honestly can barely keep a cohesive thought process going during the recording anyways...sooooooo....yeah, probably won't happen.
Thanks for the feedback though, we hope you keep listening.

I'll keep listening. But I bring it up because if it bugs me, it probably bugs other listeners. I'm not saying change who we are or our style or anything, just little tweaks. Maybe the host's diligence could fix it all. If someone isn't all there, don't give them the floor. Let them chime in now and then but if they fade off while they have the floor, take charge and move on. And try to slip in the game being discussed if there is a place, e.g. if the conversation reaches an end throw out a "so yeah, check out We Rule on the iPhone. Moving on..." Kinda like we do when we have a guest and we mention their site at the beginning and end of that bit. I know most of the time we roll right into a new thought, so don't interrupt that just to throw out the name, but you know what I'm saying. Actually, Shannon often does a little something like that to wrap things up nicely when there's a lull between bits. So yeah, try to do less of what doesn't work so well and more of what does work.

So yeah, try to do less of what doesn't work so well and more of what does work. I guess my argument is if it does work or not, and furthermore...do we care? I'm not getting paid to do this, I'm doing it because I find it fun. Trying to make it better is great and all, but I'm not going to stress over it. Not stressing over it is what I think makes the show good. But hey, if there is some form of a consensus to change stuff up, I'm all ears....or eyes I guess.

You have a point about playing while podcasting. It can mess with bandwith, like it did in this episode. I made sure to log out of my warcamp when it was happening (granted I logged back in after simply to get my lock bonus ) As far as keeping conversations tight, I am not too worried about that. I realize I am one of the main people who can carry a topic off the mark, so I might not be the best judge, but I think that can lead to some of our best conversations. We could me more technical and reference specific game mechanics/names, but I think that trying to focus on that stuff would really make us think too much and separate ourselves from our true nature. We used to have our outlines timed and more specific, with time frames for conversations. Yes, it kept us a bit more on track, but we are not professionals. I am able to commit most Fridays to this, and I want to have fun with it. We probably could be more succinct, but I honestly would not look forward to recording

I'm not suggesting we stick to a timeline or be succinct or stay on topic or anything like that. I like the way it is. It's what we do well. I'm just saying we sometimes get to generic in our descriptions and it is easy, for me at least, to lose track of what game we are talking about, e.x. "the pvp can get pretty intense and my team was yelling at me to heal, but I hadn't played the healer in a while, so I forgot the best place to be and which gear to use, so we wiped a bunch. And there was this douchebag yelling at everyone to stay on the flag, blah blah". Could be WAR, could be BFBC2.
All the other game podcasts do it too. I always note stuff that I like or don't like about other podcasts and then I notice if we do it too. But I can't help it. I'm an analyzer. I love figuring out how things work and how to do it better.
