I'm really glad I hung on to my newbie clothes all this time or I would be nekkid. I didn't know that you could carry over some of your skills from other classes. That seems like it'll allow for some great character customization.

Sooo, when you switch, are you considered a level 1 again? How's that shit work?

Well in my case, I'm still a level 16 Thaumaturge, if I equip that armor set, but I haven't skilled up as a Conjurer so I had to start at 1.
Think of it like... GW2. You start with an axe and you open up all those skills, but when you switch to a sword for the first time, you have to start leveling up that skill to open up all the options.
One thing I really like is that you can retain some skills from other classes you've developed. Like, I can use lightning and an avoid interruption spell that I learned as a Thaumaturge even when I'm playing as my Conjurer (currently I have to choose one or the other, but at 10 I get to use 2 skills from other classes). I heard on a podcast that this makes for great solo play.
I've heard that the jobs are more holy-trinity and tend to be what people use for dungeons/group play so that people stick to a role. I'm pretty excited to get to that point in the game.

So in order to level up Conjurer do you need to hunt low level mobs? Like, what does it do to your stats when you switch?

click on my sig for specifics.
You build your armor set for the stats you want for that class. When you open up armor sets, you can switch between them with one click. I didn't get it until I saw it.

I didn't get it until I saw it. I still don't... so I guess I'll just have to figure it out.

When you unlock a new class, you are back to level one while that class. You need to hunt low level mobs and do low level quests.
I've found TONS of lower level quests spread throughout the world.

Hunting logs are probably one of the best ways to level up classes that aren't your main one. Don't neglect them!

Yup!
The Hunting Log is probably one of my favorite features in the game thus far.
