I don't know how many of guys have played Everquest but I'm playing on a free server right now. The game is actually call Shards of Dalaya. The Level goes up to 65 and it has AA's. Now the zone layout isn't exactly the same as EQ. They renamed most of the zones and moved them around. They are still the same old lovable zones... well except for freeport ;D They turned it into a lvl 50+ undead zone.. hehe kinda cool. I've got a lvl 22 Barb shaman atm.. so if anyone feels the need to feed some of your Evercrack addiction again drop me a tell ingame on Jaconis. www.shardsofdalaya.comInstallation isn't to bad... some problems when you patch the retail up to Yhkesha because sony makes a brand new EQ folder .. and you get a bit confused. If you have any problems just drop me a message on the forum and i'll see what I can do.

That's funny. My wife and I were reminiscing about EQ last night on our evening walk. We quit a little after SoL came out. We were trying to remember what it was called when you turned in quest items, but from two different people and the last one to do the turn in would get credit. We said Dual-questing or multi-questing, but they didn't sound right. We had some good times in that game, met a lot of people, like Aruth. Damn, that was like 8 years ago when I met him. Time flies.

I lost count of how many MQ's I've helped on or gotten help with...

It's technically legal due to it not actually being Everquest.

I'll probably give it a try for old times sake. But man, that interface is so terrible. I've been spoiled by DAoC and WoW. Do you need to install the original EQ to make this work or do they give you all the files needed? Their website is lacking in instructions for that from what I have seen.

NM, I found the info on the forums. You need the original EQ CD and install that before the rest of the stuff. I dunno, this sounds fishy to me.

It's not really fishy at all.. well IMO. but here's what the server owner had to say about it
we do not condone downloading the game for free, and do not permit any discussion or linking to any free downloads. If you want to discuss how to attain the game here, then discuss how to pick up a cheap copy of Titanium or Gold or whatever - it's no more than $10 or so these days, and that's not much for a one-time cost.
This may surprise you, but we do appreciate the efforts of those that coded the clientside software we make use of, and we would like to see it properly paid for since the whole purpose of the "free download" is to pay the kind of monthly cost we do not charge.
That said, we're not going to go on a witchhunt or start asking people for CD keys, but at the very least if you're going to pirate, keep it off our forums.

ya, they may have found a loophole so that it's not illegal, but it still seems wrong to me.

Wrong it may be.. but could see yourself paying money to play EQ again for fun? I couldn't and I'm pretty bored waiting for W.A.R. To each his/her own.

I tried one of those free server eq games. The one I was on got shutdown by EQ, so maybe not good if they get too big. I know big guilds would practice raids on private servers.

I downloaded the "Escape to Norrath" free play till level 10 client they have to get folks hooked on EQ. Well, the game has changed a lot in some respects and not in others since I left. Holy cow...all the shit on the screen now. I couldn't figure out what went to where and what this damn window was for and stuff like that. The combat still sucks ass. It takes like 5 mins to kill a stinking level one rat. Miss, miss, you hit for 1 point of dmg, miss, miss, miss, spell fizzle, miss. WTF. No thanks. I enjoyed the game, while I was playing it in the past, but after going back to it with the leaps and bounds DAoC and WoW have made in interface and gameplay I just can't do EQ again. I'll keep my good memories I had when I was there and not taint it by trying to go back to the game now.

If there was anything from EQ that I would love to take with me into another game, it's Selo's Song of Travel!! (along with my Wardrums of the Rathe, please!)
