Galactica MMO-RPG announced for Fall 2007
Thursday - March 8, 2007 | by Livi Dolgin
Shooting into the future of gaming, the new Battlestar Galactica massively multiplayer online role-playing game (or MMO-RPG) will be available only by download, bypassing traditional retailers. According to GameDaily.com the both the game and the show are done in HD. HD allows future series to arrive by Xbox Marketplace -- which is exactly where it will work, on the Xbox 360, the only new generation console that will play the game.
Don't worry: PC players can still download the game, but the graphics will not be as spectacular.
PC Gamersblog.com describes the game as a new single and multiple RPG where the player takes part in space battles, including piloting for either the humans or Cylon forces. Ships from the popular television show will be featured as well as missions based on favorite episodes.
"We'll be able to add game content via multiple delivery methods to provide new content that's topical to what's going on in the Battlestar Galactica universe for seasons to come," said Ed Zobrist, president of Sierra Online, the firm developing the game. "Players will be able immerse themselves in the Battlestar Galactica universe."
"We wanted to bring a more intense combat experience to gamers," Bill Kispert, Vice President Interactive of NBC/Universal, told CB Games.com. "From a story standpoint, fans will be able to relive key battles from the first two seasons of the show, and then we’ll add new content and missions outside of that."

Battlestar Galactica is airing its third season Sunday nights at 10 p.m. Eastern on The SCI FI Channel.
