My thoughts are: Go fuck yourself, BW.
My recurring sub got cancelled because they failed in a big way when it comes to population balance both for factions and servers. I hate playing 70% of my WZs in huttball against the same faction and Sanctum of the Exalted is a ghost town while my character on The Harbinger never has to wait more than 3 minutes for a WZ or more than 10 minutes to find a group for an FP. They've done nothing to address that and don't seem to have a plan to do so anytime soon.
That being said, I'd be more than willing to give them that extra month to sort things out if they gave it to every active account. In fact, even if they said "you have to set up a recurring payment by midnight and you'll get the free month" I'd probably reup for a month just to try it out. But they didn't. Even worse, what about the people who love alting and have active recurring subscriptions, but no 50s? Maeve made that point earlier, and it's a good one. BW snubbed them too.
I'd been really considering extending my sub and playing on The Harbinger because the game can be fun when there are actually people around to play with, but this move makes me less likely to do so.
I'm so offended by what BW did that I'm going to get on a plan to New Zealand and be gone for two weeks.

Pass. It was a fun ride, but I don't plan on getting back on the roller coaster until its so different from what it was originally that I can't even recognize it. (IE: more content is added to make it worth re-upping)
Even then, I'd only do so temporarily. Game lacks staying power for me.

I think that they did this for the level 50's because they took the WZ out of the 1.2 patch. They are looking for ways to get them to stick around.
That being said, whoever wrote the text referring to 50's as "one of our most valued players" should probably not ever write PR/marketing prose again.
Also, it seems to me that they should have actually announced this before the cut off time, not after. I mean, they could have increased their subs just by doing so. Sure, it would have been a two for one (pay one month, get the next free), but half the money is better than less money. Especially if they have actually pissed off some of the non-fifty players to actually cancel their account.

I'm wondering why they don't offer something more to people who come back, for example "resubscribe your inactive account before Monday and get 2 months of playtime" would have been awesome for numbers, I'm sure. And the level 50 stipulation on the deal is kinda weird.

If someone were to plan a way to alienate a huge chunk of their subscription base and sabotage efforts to win back former subscribers, this would be that plan.

I mean most of the time when you want subs to come back, you just do it in general or the free week return that they have planned, that makes sense.
But when you do it solely for those with 50s, not only are you showing your cards that your endgame is boring as hell, but it also pisses everyone else off.
Not exactly a masterstroke.

... so even though I've been paying/playing since the game came out, I'm NOT one of their most valuable players? I'm not *quite* 50 yet because I gave priority to my newborn and to my job. So no free month for me - and no more paid months for them. Because if I'm not valuable to them, they shouldn't miss me when I'm gone.

So....level 50s are the most valuable players huh? I guess we're just casual plebs then. This really just seals the deal; I wont be resubbing to their boring ass WoW clone. If I want to play WoW, I'll play WoW, because no one does WoW better than WoW.

Yeah, that's odd. I didn't read closely and just assumed it was something for all players. I had no idea it was for 50's only. That's just ridiculous. Sure, in one sense it's a way of saying "OK 50's, we know we screwed you by not having a fun game at cap," but it's just a given that it's going to piss off everyone who didn't have a 50. And 30 days? Seems to me this is a pretty clear sign that SWTOR's not an MMO with staying power. I played last night quite a bit, and the Legacy system is boring after about 15 minutes. You either have to have tons o' credits or alts out the butt. (UI editor is awesome, though)

I re subbed last night because I was planning to do so for 1.2. I got bored after 15min of the level 50 game. I'm hoping an alt will be fun for the month I paid, but I already shut the auto pay off. GW2 can't get here soon enough

Yeah, it's Diablo 3 for me, though I'll be following you guys and your GW3 experience closely.

Elli continues to be pissed as she's level 46 and legacy level 4, so she missed both cutoffs.
