If any of you have pre-ordered, make sure you enter your code on the swtor.com site as soon as you receive it. If you received it and were thinking, "oh, I'll enter that a day or so before early access starts," then according to the following quotes, you'll be one sad panda. source of the quotes listed belowtwitter.com/#!/Rockjaw Stephen Reid @rockjaw Austin, TX Geek of many colo(u)rs. Why though? Is this their version of an open beta? Only the people that have preordered the game gets in? Depending on when you put your code in depends on when you get in. Foes that mean the people that preordered day 1 get longer access to the game without a character wipe? Could I be playing my character a month before release?

They've said that early access will be a matter of days. It's not open beta. One of the perks of preordering is having early access time.
I've never seen an MMO do this before but it will allow them to control how many people are hammering the system at once.

Ok so hypothetically: 1. Day 1 preorder = 6 days 2. After August 1= 4 days 3. After sept 1 = 3 days
That kind of thing?

They could easily remove all traffic server jam by trickling guilds in the game for 2 weeks prior to launch. It would be a smoother launch than RIFT and that bar is set really high. I hope SWTOR is POLISHED. not like WAR was polished. Gawd and jeebos help us all if it is WAR polished.

RIFT set the polish bar but screwed up the server bar. I just hope SWTOR knows they will have close to 1.5 million trying to jam in the game. The guild reconstruction will help to a point, but it won't help the unguilded. All I want to know is if the game is polished enough and the PvE AI isn't as stupid as it looks in the videos. I don't want another WAR where the mobs stand around getting picked off 1 by 1 with 0 pathing or animation.

I have little doubt that the AI will be plenty retarded in open world areas.
(I say this not out of spite, but just reality, Rift's AI seemed to be the best of any MMO I've played thus far.)

It's not impossible for a game's AI to be tweaked pretty well even in PVE. I'm one of the few who ever played Spellbourne, but the enemies there were almost always in groups, and fought you reasonably. They would ignore the tanks as much as they could, run around you and get to the casters, try to mez and debuff, etc. Of course, played well, you always had a bag of tricks that were useful in almost any situation, but you had to do a lot more than simply roll your face on the keyboard to win. Sigh. I had such high hopes for that game.
Oh, and also, I can't seem to find the code on my receipt. I didn't pay for the whole thing just yet, could that be the issue?
You say that the industry wants innovation and evolution, but that is obviously not true. Maybe it's what YOU want, but whenever something like that has been tried, it has failed miserably and/or spectacularly.

Yeah, same here. They told me that they were having issues with it, and that they only had the one code that they were giving to everyone. Maybe that was just my store, or maybe that's par for the course for all GameStop. I hope not.
Ok, so now I'm ready to get my space cowboy on! Now, to go more Malcolm Reynolds, or more Spike Spiegel... decisions, decisions...
